Steering Damper Help

Post by TSP »

This might sound odd but does anyone have any pictures of a steering damper fitted to a Firestorm?

I have just got hold of one but I need to know what I need to do to make it fit.

It's a side mount kit by the way.

Thankyou :D

Not wanting to be funny about it but why do you need a steering damper on a firestorm????

I run mine with a 5mm longer rear shock and the yokes dropped 12mm to quicken the steering. I don’t have any problems with the handling over any surface. You shouldn’t need one
If you need to fit a steering damper to stop some adverse handling then you need to look for the problem else were like tires, head bearings, wheel alignment or suspension set up
If you’re fitting it for the bling factor then you will be slowing down the steering on an already sedate steering bike

its big----- its red ------its throbbing and it’s a thousand CC

i've got one, just wanted the bling factor... .

as lee says it clamps round the fork leg, but the rear mount bolts to the frame, i think there is either a pre-drilled hole there, or it uses an existing bolt for the rad or fairing. i'll try and find a pic

steering damper's are a must esp on one of our trips up and over garriby hill at 100+..the front waggles like a good un without one....having a damper just calms things down at silly speeds thats all  ...mmmm one on cruiser???.....nah :D

Hi, Thanks for the replys, Kev, a picture would be blinding thanks mate.

As for the need, it does wiggle it's head quite often, normally under hard acceleration over bumpy roads. Even with a Revolution front end and Technoflex back end.

Oh and it was free
