Its here...and your going to hate me but....Its twice the bike the storm is!
I loved my storm and almost shed a tear when i had to load it into the back of a white van (driven by the oddest polish man ive ever met) however the GSXR gives so much more. The storm was comfortable and a breeze to just jump on a ride, mucking up a gear change out of a bend was not a problem and it installed confidence in the rider. However the suspension and brakes (even worse with stock brakes) were not on par with todays machines! We wont even talk about the lack of top end or jumpy town riding (even with re-geared setup)
.....the GSXR however is a totally different kettle of fish, one has to be changing gear regularly and working the bike much harder than the storm. You have to dial in much more effort but you are rewarded with a pant splatting gush of power and steering that even the trickest of storms would be jealous of. The 6-pot calipers combined with sintered pads and braided hoses do an excellent job of stopping you twice as quick as you started.
The riding position, for me at least, is very good, the long seat means you can hunch or rise depending on the style of riding although the low bars will cause problems for older riders doing distance.
The power is smooth, constant and undemanding. Once wound up it does everything it can to wedge your eyes in the back of your crainum. Your bumbling along at what feels like a sedate pace, quite within the legal limts, look down at the digital dash and then GULP as you realise your doing 110mph! It IS that smooth.
I could go on singing its praises but i dont think you V2 guys really want to hear about that so im off for a ride.......(without having to stop at every other petrol station)

Sounds bloody brilliant mate - good on ya.
My storm is an old shed but it costs nowt to run and still p*sses on any car you care to mention.
You can just p*ss on cars slightly easier now.
Oh and us lot still ridin old storms

The number of times I have been frustrated by the 155 mph top end is, erm, never! Can't say mine is jerky round town either TBH.
I tried a K5 and it was fantastic. I rode it on the same bit of road I rode the Storm on and I couldn't go any faster really. I was tempted, it was clearly a newer bike (the Storm is over 10 years old now don't forget) but it wasn't £4000 better, which was the trade in difference a couple of years ago.

That was my opinion of my mates late Gixxer but my Blade was better all round for £300 less than the Storm so I went for it.
Its a great bike Squiff so enjoy the power mate.

I would have to disagree im afraid. I rode my storm every day for 5 years through every condition you could imagine and this bike completely blows it out of the water. If you couldnt go any faster on the K5 than the storm i reccon you should spend the £4k on track days or advanced riding.
My storm was 12yrs old and i did over 40k on it, im not knocking it as a bike in the slightest, im just saying the GSXR owns it totally in a sports envoirment, and so it should do, thats its purpose!

I do agree beemish, the blade is most likelly better however i find the riding postion quite uncomfortable and prefer the looks of the GSXR!
O and adfski i know exactly where your coming from, i think most people on here would agree that mine was a bit of dog to say the least...started life as a beautiful bike mind...

If you couldnt go any faster on the K5 than the storm i reccon you should spend the £4k on track days or advanced riding.
Maybe the fact that I have done the advanced riding courses meant that I was riding at the right speed for that piece of road.

Might as well stick my oar in,
Picture this

crowd of people standing by the side of the road at a bike meet (Devils Bridge for instance).
An in line 4 turns off the A65 and proceeds to head towards the bridge,
along the 683, it passes the crowd

and very few look up to see what it is. Then along the same route comes a V TWIN of any description and you could bet a months wages there would be a damn site more people looking to see what was making the "Beautiful sound" than bothered when the IL4 passed.
Just my opinion.

haha touche! LOL! cant question the vtwin sound....
....But it depends on how many wheels the vtwin and il4 are using!

Dont know about that, a Gixxer with open Yoshi on overun makes an impressive noise. Most petrol heads would get whiplash for any bike going past
Squiff I didnt mean the blade was better than the Gixxer

My Blade is an old toy now compared an 06 GSXR its just better than the Storm for less bucks. In fact they are a bargain at the mo

god it all nearly got a bit testo for a minute there.
I mean do we really have to argue what the fastest bike is?
For about 5-6 years running the GSXR has won the superstock TT. Hands down - no problem. Thats the argument completely dealt with and anyone who disagrees with me is obviously mad and can't ride a motorbike for toffee
The storm wasn't even competitive when it was released - it was never meant to be.

Lets not forget what we've got here,... it's reasonably good looking, cheap to buy,.. cheap to run,. ie,(reliability and parts),..ebay is full of storms and bits for them
And don't forget,it comes with something a lot of bikes dont come with......Character
