Just wondering how important your mobile is
Mines been sha*d for about 4 weeks now batteries gone
I’ll get a new one for the weekend because I’ll need it
But not having it with me all the times not been a problem
Just had a m8 of mine on the house phone ranting that he couldn’t get in touch
And that every time he rang it would ring twice then he’d get a message saying the mobile you are ringing is switched off. Seems the phone would try and ring then switch itself off because the battery would die
he's not a happy bunny

I dont think id miss my mobile ,its only really used for txt messages, mainly if mates an myself are organising a bike run.

If i use it try to phone the kids ,if we're wonderin when they'll be home ,their phones are conveiniently on silent
Mines is pay as ye go ,the kids are contract phones.
I really believe mobile phones and p.c's have fkd up family values/comunications or whatever ye call it
For instance on Sunday, when me the wife and kids went a car run up to Inveraray, etc, all the kids did was txt, txt ,txt ,i'd be surprised if they actually noticed anything or anywhere we passed through
Also ,when any of them are on the pc, on messenger or bebo, or whatever, i f myself or the wife goes within 3 feet of them,we get accused of spying on them etc

Thats not to mention the fightin to get on the pc
Rant over

Work pays for my phone which always carries the risk that they might actually call me on it
To be honest though half the time I don't have my phone with me purely on principle. We're so tied to these gadgets and think they're essential, but 15 years ago hardly anyone had a mobile. If someone can't get hold of me, big deal. If I break down and need a phone, whatever, I'll manage....

Dunno, haven't been without one for about 9 years! I guess I could learn to live without it - I use it for ringing out more than folk ringing in! It aids my 'must-be-done-yesterday' lifestyle, which , to be honest, I could do with tempering a bit!
Sparrow - didn't know you were a MTB'er! It's the way I get my kicks when i'm not out on the bike! Just taken a load of kids out on D of E around Edale - damn near cried when I had to WALK down Jacob's Ladder and the BWs leading down to Derwent Res!

Don't think I could be without my phone to be honest! I don't use it excessively, just a few texts a day to mates, peace of mind when on bike/in van/out and about in case of emergency/break down/change of plans etc. I don't see any reason to ever need to be without one, so never really given it any thought!
To be honest, thinking about it, I'd be f**ked without my phone because its my alarm clock so no phone means I'd be in bed until 3pm every day!

I agree totally with that, I also think they've contributed to more relationship break-ups than any other item.
I hate my phone, the only reason I have it is in case
I need to use it. If I don't recognise the number or private number appears they don't get answered fullstop.

I agree with that ,,i know of 2 guys that work right beside me who have phones their wives dont know about, kept in pocket during shift, kept in locker when time to go home

Reckon if I was that worried about the mrs contacting me - I just wouldn't have a mrs!
I mean there have to be some dodgy reasons for having to keep a mobile secret...or am I just reading to much into that
Timbo - IPHONE, I am so jealous its everything I need in a single bit of kit but manx telecom won't be supporting it. @RSE! Their owned by O2 but they can't supply the contracts. There are some big downsides to living here! But no speed cameras

I would agree with that to Stevie, along with Clayderman's opinion on relationship break-ups too.
I'm amazed how much time is spent in the place of work texting or talking on them, over a year hours must be wasted. It's a good job I'm not the boss as I'd ban them in the place of work
I only switch my mobile on when I want to ring someone, otherwise it's switched off
Chris.
