Best Week Ever!

Post by VTRgirl »

Bestest thing: Brain surgery.
My Dad's had a benign tremor, similar to that from Parkinson's, since his teens. He had to retire early & the last few years have sometimes found him unable to even feed himself. Drinking from a normal glass has required all those in the vicinity to wear full rain gear. Hand-writing has been virtually impossible. Last Tuesday, aged almost 69, he underwent a procedure called Deep Brain Stimulation (basically, wiring a pacemaker into the brain), and overnight, the tremor has vanished. WooBLOODYhoo!

Next best thing: Buyin' stuff.
On Monday a contract to sell my partner's place for a bit more than he would've settled for, became unconditional. On Wednesday, a contract for us to buy a fantastic, 7 acre chunk of land in the hinterland of the Gold Coast, with two houses, a pool & a dirt-bike track, also went unconditional.

Nexter next best thing: Birthdays.
I got older, but I'm still young enough not to care. I had an open house party (more for moving than birthdaying) & heaps of friends, including some from days gone by, dropped in, met the man & caught up.

I'm tempted to go on about fantastic weather, great shifts at work & other bits & pieces, but I don't want you all to turn into jealous alcoholics (on top of the mere alcoholics I already know most of you to be ;) ).

So 100% utterly stoked about Dad's op, I had to post up so you could "share the joy". :D

:D :D :D

That's fantastic news

:D :D :D

You need to get some numbers on the lottery with all the good news you've had this week

I bet you're over the moon about your pops - Bet he is too - life must've been very hard for him for years, let alone frustrating

Great to hear the house move is progressing nicely too - looks brilliant! I'll get the sweeties ready!

And so what you're a little older, you're wiser too and only as old as you feel - belated Birthday greetings to you

Calls for extra large helpings of ice cream

Don't let Incy see, don't want him getting jealous

Thanks Kaz! It's really been eerie the way everything's been falling into place so well. It's about time :D

Is it wrong to snigger at "Deep Brain Stimulation"

:)

Stoked for ya. Its all going great. I did see something about that DBS thingy - except this was a remote unit, not an implant and it was pretty remarkable.

All very cool - so when's the Aussie Camping Firestorm Trip then?

That's great adfski!

I'm all for bringing a bit of happy to the world. Everyone's quick to complain if there's half a reason. If you see someone doing something well, tell them.

I just got notification of a pay rise shortly & Incy's recently not only moved to a new roster system that means more pay, but our child support laws here have been changed, so he's had a big reduction there too! Woohoos all round :D
