i have been thinking of getting one of these, not to sure on which design to get, Magnetic or straps.
Dont want to scracth paint on tank so any advise on which or how would be good before I decide which method .

Get the one from Lidl cheap and good, magnetic hasn't scratched my tank.

Gone with Baglux ever since and as a benefit the petrol tank is kept immaculate underneath the cover.

Could have been your licence as well as the Liquorice , was that on a private road by any chance ? l

Lidl bag stays on at 130 mph+ private road very strong magnets + always use the head wrap around under the headstock. Has never came off. Even when fully loaded with heavy chain, cans of beer and other things. Its a fantastic buy highly recommended.
FirestormMike I never knew never knew that other long strap was for under the frame was using it for walking over shoulder kinda satchaw (spelling)
+ the top transparrent zipped pocket is idea for keeping maps.

Having never had a tank bag,i reckon i might just grab one of these when i get the chance,you all seem to reckon they're excellent value

A question from a tank bag virgin...is it not a pain in the butt removing it all the time for fuel,given that the 'storm his a small tank,or is it piss easy to do

just move it to one size it sticks like glue, then pop cap for filling I sometimes hold the bag if really laden with things. It even has in the top pocket a waterproof elastic covering to protect it rain. Its easy to carry off the bike to.

The offer isn't on here, but as someone on the forum said before, sometimes they have them instore even though its not advertised in their flyer or website.

Baglux for me, tried manetic aswell and had no problems. The Baglux is much better quality but obviously more expensive.

It's a nice fast stretch into town from the coast - Very Lincolnshire like - I popped back later to try and find the bag and sweets but no joy - I expect in a few years there'll be a nice line of liquorice bushes

Funnily enough this incident happeended only a few days afterwards on the same stretch of road so I'm lucky in many ways not to have to have picked up multiple fines...

What he said & doubly so

Magnets attract unwanted ferrous crap whether it be filings or bristles from wire brushes.

Baglux all the way - Flebay is the place to buy, see tank covers for Storms regular and cheap - Alpha bags (imo the best) - don't pay any more than £40-£45 inc postage for 2nd hand.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for (new) - Still regret the Lidl racing gloves I got about 5 years ago - pile of sh1te they were.

I went for a Hein Gericke magnitic one, £30 and fantastic.


Had one of the Lidl ones last time they were selling them. The zips broke in 3 months.

No need for handlebar risers now, just rest on the tank bag!

Here's a pic of the lidl one on my old storm on the way to the Inverness weekend a couple of years ago. Went around a lot of twisty roads that day and it didn't fall off.

Did ye need a booster cushion to see over the top of it

I've used a magnetic one for a while - never bother with the headstock strap and it has stayed on at, ahem, 145 on the clock

They do cause turbulence though and get in the way, so I prefer tailpacks
