Just repaired mine yesterday for this, got a repair kit off of ebay, basically 8 new bolts and plastic washers and some heat sink paste. Took about an hour in total to strip repair and rebuild

and it's a satisfying feeling when they come up green. Although it does invalidate the 3yr warranty for this fault so if it's in 3yrs still better just use microsoft for the repair. I did and it even had the beefed up heatsink and still went wrong again after a year.
Microsoft were okay to deal with but plan on being without it for a month while they send it away and repair it.

When I sent mine away for repair last Feb that is all he was picking up, that was his job to just pick up xbox360's
Hope you get it back fast, I think they're repaired in Germany now so you may get yours back faster than the 4 weeks mine took. Hope the repair lasts too as mine still went wrong and it had the super duper heatsink fitted

Mate PC gaming is the future, my rig is currently sporting two BFG 8800GT cards and runs faster than any console, yes i thought about getting the 360 but if your willing to spend a bit of dough on your pc, you wll have it running faster and more reliable than any console. awaiting call of duty 5................

Got the lights for the 2nd time about 2 months ago. First time it was under a year old so got new one from Game no questions asked.
Second time it was a year later and I sent it to MS. Was told it would take 4-6 weeks

So I was chuffed to feck when it was back within a week and a half

I guess its luck of the draw on how busy they are, but I would send it away again if it went wrong I hardly missed it.
UPS bloke said he picks up about 30 a day every day and simular figures across his depo
Beamish - SBK for me too. I'm enjoying it, much better than MotoGP.

Yup they all do now. As I said though it only took a week and a half for me so all good. As I said I might have been lucky, but while its under 3 years old I don't see the point in invalidating the warranty in case I can't fix it the next time.

I gave up on PC gaming as it's too expensive - just stick to the 360 now. Bought 3, 1 died (a release model, 3 rings) my son has a later one and i have an elite, both been fine.
Have to agree PC graphics are better, my sons PC is an AMD Athlon 6000 64 x2 with dual Nvidia 8800 GTS in SLi. Unfortunately Vista is pants. Crysis Warhead runs brilliantly in XP, but is virtually unplayable in Vista with crap framerates - but DX10 does look amazing though. I think *only* having 2GB memory is not good for Vista!!!
For me it's a no brainer - 360 graphics are perfectly adequate - and a new one now costs what? £130? Build a PC for £130 that will look as good and be as stable.

What is the quickest simplest way to get online with the XBOX. Is is wireless router and wi-fi or can I just rig a separte modem and connect through my ISP IP address. Havent bothered in the past but all the games have been tailored for online and am missing too much fun .
