So yesterday, I'm riding along gently because I know its slippy.
Two cars in front some t**t anchors up suddenly at a green traffic light (presumeably 'cus the light contolling the right hand turn is on red). Car behind stops even faster.

I put on brakes, hard but not panic style. Next thing I'm sliding along the road toward the car in front.

You can tell how little grip there was by the fact that other then my crash hat I didn't even scuff my boots or fabric suit.

Unfortunately, same can't be said for the bike. Insurance (eBike) say its probably a write off and I'll get market value ,whatever that is, or 60% of it if I keep the bike. Looking at David Silver's site it looks like £1200 + of parts (mainly body work).

Anyway, now waiting for an engineer from the insurance.

Sorry to hear about that but main thing is you are ok and not seriously hurt or anything. Myself i'm always overally courtious this time of year, but yep roads very slippery out there, driving in black ice couple of weeks ago very earily morning was a night mare very slow around corners.

man sry to hear about your incident fella.....

R.E: insurance.....the amount you get back is all dependant on what category the damage is.

I recieved a payout on my storm of £1500 (80% at the time)....for a cat c write off.....damage estimate was over £3000 ( for every tiny lil nick , stratch and ding )...fixed the bike for £500 in the end  ( which included rogered forks ) ....then it got stolen

Do yourself a favour and contact RSS( rider support services )...they will offer advice and if they think u got a good case will take it up and you wont pay a penny....their payment will come out of the 3rd parties insurance........Oh.....and so will the money for the hire bike they'll provide you with if you tell em you use your bike every day :) :D

Total length of time from crash to cash was 4mnths

Thanks folks.

Looks like I'll be dogging round on the old Velocette for a while. No danger of a front wheel lock up on the Velo - in fact not much braking at all!!

Jeez Jag
Sorry to hear about the off.
It'd be a shame to use the Vello in the crap that's out there at the mo.
I hope the insurance goes through hassle free and you get it sorted/replaced soon.
Good luck
