fiddler.

Why not make it 20 mph and be done with it - even fewer people would die then. Better still, let's go green, back to the horse and cart, never go abroad or eat imported food like bananas which have to be flown here.

Better to teach people to actually drive and have regular retests/eye tests.

Why do these jokers think they have a mandate for this nannying?

Appalling, how will they police that then? More cameras?

More like an excuse to erect even more cash camera's I'd say :!:

They were discussing this on the news this morning, it's apparently an idea to stop the boy racers being so reckless :!: Yeah right :!:

Re-strict the power of a car until the youngsters are older, just like the 33bhp for bikes :!:

I think the current insurance prices do that. A handbrake skid in a 1 litre Nova is the same as a handbrake skid in a Focus ST, both are driven by twats ( I was one once  ) Young lads and lasses will always speed unless the vehicles are electronically limited. Its human nature for fooks sake. there are thousands of miles of 60mph zone.....if they must do it target the danger areas. People will not travel at 50 mph (unless 60 plus wearing a flat cap that will do 40 mph regardless of which road they are on) People need to get to work without getting up at 4am.......there are lots of commuters that use 60 mph roads. gggrrrrrrrrrr steams my clams

So raise the car driving and alcohol consumption age to 21/22. They can ride scooters before hand and maybe get some road sense.

The nob on the TV said "this is a good idea as it will stop young lads speeding after they have had too much to drick". So, drink driving is illegal, but they have done that, exceeding 60 is illegal, but they do that, but hey presto, reduce the limit to 50 and it will be universally obeyed.

I say again - fiddler.

Well said Strats, thing is we were 17 once, we drove cars that were cheaper to insure, running cheaper petrol with fewer coppers in unmarked cars and certainly fewer speed cameras. I used to do massive mileages driving from Swindon to Yorkshire every six days and I am not ashamed to admit I was flat out at every opportunity. Lets not forget we were young once (and some still are, I am not forgetting we are not all 35+)

Bah. Humbug. I was born old and curmudgeonly

Although, when I were a lad, my Morris 1000 would barely get to 70!

50? Bloody 50?

Chance a'd be a fine thing!!

My morning commute takes me on some little country roads, and you can't get up to 50 becasue of the bloody 4- wheel-drive tanks with the mirrors folded in in case they hit a leaf in a hedge.

That and bloody horse sh!t :confused
Why can't bloody horses sh!t on the straight bits- but no! It's always halfway round a corner.

And gravel- don't get me going about gravel.

Resurface your drive, fine- but then if it runs out into the road, bloody sweep it up again, before some poor unfortunate loses traction on it, and can't reach the normal speed for a bend!

And ICE- haven't they found a way to heat roads yet? My bathroom has underfloor heating, and they have the cables already laid going to the streetlamps- am I the only one who thinks this is an obvious solution?

Potholes?? Who thought that patching a road up was cheaper?? They're back round more frequently than the dustmen.

And dustmen!!!!!!

Sorry, I need to go to the pub now.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
