Hello,
Any SP1 owners about? Just been looking at the difference in insurance. TPFT 2 years NCB, 28yo with 6 points, based in London. From http://www.insurance2000.co.uk online quote:
Firestorm £350
SP1 £1,400
Seems like quite a large increase for similar bikes, one odviously being more sports orientated.
Just seems a bit stupid, that grand could be spent tricking up the Storm giving it some more oomph.

ok........but is that £234 on an SP or a standard Storm.......
i toyed with the idea back in about June and was offered a Y plate SP for a good price, but (interestingly) i'm also insured via Insurance2000, and they quoted me £1200, with £400xs, + the bike HAD to be Imm'd + alarmed.
Hence i stuck with the storm.....
I'm 31, 2 yrs NCB, living in a rural location.....
PS, storm is costing £390.00 at mo..... PPS, I also queeried it Malc (Nash) from the VTR list, who advised i was doing well at £390......

Bloody insurance companies are a law unto themselves as far as I can see.
The comics state that the VTR 1000 Firestorm is group 14 (WTF that may be!), but when I insured my new Firestorm on 1st November this year the policy almost halved again over my previous bike (also supposedly a group 14) even though the value of the machine remained more or less constant. The insurer also placed restrictions on my usage, and I'm now not allowed to carry a pillion even though I have a clean licence and 4 years NCB & have not had a bike accident since 1967!
When I queried why this should be (as the same company had also quoted a straight transfer of bike details for a brand new Triumph Speed Triple I was considering instead, and without any restrictions, even though the Trumpet would have been a full £2000 increase in value). They told me that the Firestorm was a high risk machine and loaded accordingly.
Go figure!
