It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Sorry.... dont get it! Why cant people grieve in their own way. I was based at Lyneham for some years and a 2000 bike ride will do nothing but piss everyone off by snarling up the roads. If you want to show respect go to a memorial parade or donate to Help for Heros.

Just my opinion though.

Sorry guys, Yes I have informed PLOD and the event is registered at H4H and it is a way of paying our respect, it's not always about putting your hand in your pocket, anybody can do that no matter how little I know it counts but sometimes it's the effort that counts and I for one can donate at anytime in my life.

So, if you don't want to attend, thats fine. No problem.

Sorry if my comment sounded sh*tty. It was not meant to, it just my opinion and what you feel is right to do is fine by me.

jim i can see both points, i was based at raf finningley for 16 years!......lost a few good friends over there ..but i also think the ride is a good idea, as pointed out money isnt everything, a good show of british public moral support is worth more than millions imho

maybe also a point to see who's up for ride to the wall 2010!!

And for those who want a non-facebook link...

I still wouldnt go on one though. I'm not being negative, just have my own way of showing respect for the folk out there.
I was just about to post something similar, I have cancelled my event so as not to conflict with this one, if you are going though, don't forget to register here http://www.afghanheroes.org.uk/bikersevent.asp or you won't get access to the base, thanks

The Mothers day event to Wootton Bassett looks to be a huge success, if you want to go the night before, you can, http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?v=a ... 34&index=1 is the free camp site.

A bit of media coverage here too, http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/wiltshire/h ... 467527.stm with all the links to the event and registration, which you will need to do if you want to get on the base at RAF Lyneham.

The latest figures at time of posting is:-

Total number of bikes already registered: 2575

Total number of riders already registered: 3530 (inc pillion)
