Went for a spin yesterday to check out the route for tomorrow challenge etc. Started off ok, went up to Thornhill, cut across to Penpont and up the B729 out to Moniave..got to there to find 2 sets of temp lights (which I told my mate Emma to inform the oganiser of incase they didn't know) and rode on. Nice road, not a car in sight so far..good good..

Rode on and turned off at the B7000, and that wasn't too bad, then headed down the Corsock road OMG, got a few hundred yards, and thought UH OH, this IS NOT good, pot holes galore! There was shed load of shingle covering at least 2/3ds of the width of the road so had to ride on either side of it on what felt like a 10" strip of road! :eek2
Rounded a left handed bend after being able to get up to 30mph!! and what did I see simply stood on either side of the road as well right in the middle, and in no particular fashion..........A great big herd of bloody cows! Had to negotiate my way around them! Eekkkk!!

Dave had already gone, a mere distant puff of smoke on the horizon   He wasn't hanging around for me and even said later "it was each man for himself" charming :p

When my mate Emma rang me last night and gave me the route plans of what and where we have to be, it DOESN'T INCLUDE that bloody road, only the riders are going down there!! so I didn't have to do that road after all.. :Cry1: and when I told my daughter about today on the phone, she was howling and said "you know mam, if they had charged you, it would been like 'buckaroo' pml.. eeh,we laughed so much about it today I cried, but it wasn't funny yesterday....

To top it off, I got home so peed off, I decided to go out on a faster run on nice normal roads seeing as most of my ride was ruined, so off I went..5 mile down the B729 I saw a car on a bend stopped, so I slowed down to pass, notice the cpl were stood by the car, obviously waiting for someone (RAC) and off I went. A bit later, I was coming back and they were still there, only the police were in attendance and then I saw the problem, as couldn't see it from the other direction as back of their car was behind me...THE WHOLE PETROL TANK had fallen off!!! :eek2 :eek2 Petrol all over the side of the road....I have never ever seen a petrol tank on the road!

So off to bed early as have to be at the Castle for 7.15am..omg, my day off, and how early..I'll be sure to get some piccies if I can capture things quick like...

lol cows - bonkers. they do not give a crouton do they.

one of my first jobs was putting marquees up.
one day a crew of us went out, laid all the canvas out, then it pissed down so we took cover in the back of the truck.
next thing a whole herd of cows came and sat down on the canvas lol!!!!
WTF!!! fkin MOVE!!! they wouldnt go!!!
we was all laughing like crouton & eventually they all drifted off except one big massive one, just stood there staring at us....
my m8 magnum, one big b8stard he is, walked over to it and smacked it in the head lol, knocked it clean out!!!
PMSL :eek2 he ko'd a fkin cow!!
it still wouldn't move, just lay there with it's legs in the air, then suddenly woke up and ran off moooing like mad!!!
total madness lol!

another time i was on a 250rs honda and me m8 was on a x7, ripping round some twisties near burtonwood airbase.
i was in front (as usual!!!) and came round a bend to find a farmer in the road waving his arms for me to stop..
i pulled over, well slowed right down to find a cow in the middle of the road...
next thing, almighty skid, and my m8 on his x7 ploughs straight into the fker sideways doing about 60!!!
cowshit everywhere lol :eek2
he was ok like but the bike was smashed to bits.
believe it or not, the cow just walked off and went back in its field!!

so next time you get a tough steak, it was probably off that cow!

tell you what is worse, when you are up those roads at night and you come across the herd of black Galloway cows on the open hill roads, you dont see thme till the last minute as they blend into the shadows, and when you do you realise they are there, the roads are covered in shite and there is no braking grip!!!!!!!!!!!...............oh and to make it worse this would happen on the way back from the pub

But on the up side, any cows up on the Corsock roads will be pretty familiar with bikes with race cans...........That is where my brother runs the family farm, and none of his road or off road bikes are silenced. and as for the road surface, last time I was there he was riding his Cagiva Caponord like a supermoto and using the edge of the road as a berm..........fuuking nutter.
