Did a search, but just wondered, knowing that the front end is interchangeable with other bikes. Has anyone tried rear shocks from other donor bikes on their vtr`s with improvements ????

As far is I remember, the Storm one is a funny size and damping rate; several others fit but I've seen no reports of a swap for any/much improvement.

hmmm thats wot i was wondering. Was just thinking bout it while its all apart, and thought well we put blade forks in the front, but i`d never heard anything bout the rear.... Think my rear shock might be on the way out anyway. Will keep an eye out and see what comes up.

The VTR shock is unusually long and, while many have tried to find a direct replacement, it seems that no other shocks are a direct swap. There are numerous aftermarket offerings that can do the job, however. Another option is a modded F4i shock (see Superhawkforum for details, shocks are being offered by a chap called Jamie Daugherty; a few members have bought from him and seem quite happy with the results).

Hope this helps :)

well i just looked at my rear, and my screw at the bottom was set totally wrong. spring on setting 4 way too hard, im only 13 stone lol, so thats getting wound down to 1 or 2, and rebound was 2 or 3 turns out, screwed that all way in then 1/2 turn out. will need the wheels back in before i adjust the spring though. will have a test ride and see whats what now, and fine tune it then, but on them previous settings i reckon nearly no damping dialed in at all, or am i back to front on this one? might be ok ish after all :)

rang ftr earlier and they said my progressive rear spring is on the way so i'll let you know if it makes a difference.
sounds a nice cheap way of upgrading the rear tbh, if it does what it says on the tin...
if you are local to them they said they'd fit for free - jolly nice chaps

i'll fit it over the next few days and give it a good test!

Benny,
If it's anything like my Maxton spring (body weight related), it will make a difference

Chris.

this one's progressive so i can pig out and it won't make a differenct to the handling :D

i think the way it works is just by sticking a masive iron weight on the back of the bike!
