hey guys i have a 98 VTR 1000, i've recently noticed a weird sound when i break hard with the front break.

it sounds like a clunk, then when i accelerate it clunks back, just to do it again when breaking.

i do a lot of wheelies, and sometimes come down a little harder than i would like, so i'm wondering if i might have broke anything in the forks or shocks.

any input you guys might have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chris,

As you're in the habbit of wheelying the thing I'd suspect that the head bearings need replaced or at least tightened up a bit. There's a procedure for tighteneing them up in the Articles/FAQ section on the main page.

Mine were knackered by a speed bump which I didn't notice at time.
Now, I''ve got WP springs and a new head bearings (conical ones).
The original ones were not suited for the job, just plain ordinary ball bearings....hmmpfff Honda should do better...
