Personally I'd go for stripped and polished or how about black with an orange pin strip round the rim ?

It's actually quite easy (but time conduming) to do it by hand yourself. First off is a trip down to Homebase or similar for some stuff called "nitromors" - paint stripper basically. This stuff will take all the paint off your wheels a treat. Then just use varying grades of wet and dry getting smoother and smoother as you go. My uncle done his ZX9 like this and it looks bloody brilliant (and his swingarm and frame, and forks etc) I'll post some pics but definitely worth the hard work.

I stripped my VFR's wheels, but left the spokes with their sandcast finish, and just polished the rims (no sandpapering, just a little Autosol). It was very easy, took one can of stripper (less than a litre), and a few hours. The whole job was completed in less than a day.

It's not a good idea to lacquer them, as the lacquer can discolour or flake off. Just an occasional polish is enough.
Good thing is that the stripped wheels are easier to keep clean - the dirt doesn't stick as much, and is easier to remove.

Having said all that, I have no intention of stripping my Storm's wheels, as the non-shiny black finish is less maintenance tahn the white paint or polished alloy I had on the VFR.

By the way - if you look at the Texas VFR Garage (sorry - don't have the URL off hand), there's a whole page on various stripped, polished and painted wheels, and lots of posts in the VFR archives about stripping and polishing wheels.

Hope this helps.
