sorry not been around for a while as been on nightshift and starting my own business.

had a lump come up on my neck over christmas, finallly went to the doctor in april as it had gotten bigger. He referred me to the local main hospital ear nose and throat dept., Ive had CCT, Xray, needle sample, blood test and it now transpires to be thyroid cancer  .
dont smoke, dont drink more than 1 measure a day , 4 nights a week. work 46 hours nightshift then 4 days at my own unit.
the latest specialist said there is quite a few of these type of cancers appearing lately. there is a suggestion that they are tied to xrays, he asked if I had had any around the head, I said no . on the way home I thought , Ive had a few done for dental work over the past 2 or 3 years. maybe..............

I suggest that if you have had a few dental xrays done, that you have a word with your doctor or if you feel a lump on or under your skin in the neck area .
Im selling 3 of my bikes, 2 storms and a husky 350 as wont be riding for 3 or 4 months at least mainly due to operations and scar going to be in my chinstrap area.

wouldnt think the worst yet m8, i know it's easy to say that but the first thing you think is C.
could just be a cyst or an inflamed lymph gland after an infection, particularly around the neck, theres loads of them.

i had a lump on my nads a while ago and crapped myself worrying, left it for ages convinced myself it was cancer.
cleared up with antibiotics.
so don't stress too much. it's a bloke thing to not go the docs - you've done right getting it seen to.
good luck & hope all is ok
thyroid does soak up radiation tho... at work if theres an incident they give you tablets to flood the thyroid glands so they can't absorb radiation.

hopefully if it is that, they'll just remove the affected gland and put you on supplements.
things have come a long way in that dept.

not as serious as a friend who has inoperable C and ran marathons before he found out, now has weeks left as they have stopped his chemo.
apparently Im having a long scar down right side of neck, then one aross adams apple and thyroid removed, on tablets rest of my life, then treatment to have the lumps on the other side of neck killed off.

just waiting for a date .. heres hoping,

Sorry to hear your news Chaz.

It certainly seems quite prevalent as a friend of mine has just had identical news. He too is healthy, loads of sports and is only 32. He has to have his thryroid out on 24th June.

The only good news is that apparently of all the cancers you can get it does have one of, if not the, highest survival rate. Still a load of rubbish though.

Good luck and hope your recovery is quick.

James
