Just when you thought you were quick!

I led a group of mates for a blast round our local airfield on Sun. Great weather, sticky tyres and runways that I know very well equates to some big speeds and good lean angles. Anyhoo, one of my mates who owns a 2006 Blade and who I know to be a quick rider, unusually had his missus on the back. He took the lead and shot of at a fair old lick, I was thinking to myself, no worries I will make up the difference in the bends...........no way........I didnt make any ground and he was pulling away

It took some serious work and a bit of adrenaline inducing riding to reel him in! Two up for fooks sake!

Granted his missus is no Beluga whale and he has done some serious miles on different bikes as a couple but its the quickest I have ever seen a a bike carrying a pillion (outside watching Randy Mamola on his GP bike). Not sure how sensible that type of behavoir is, but it was nice to see. His missus loves it! (and going pillion

)

thats confidence for you.
saw a guy going up the drag strip on sunday with a pillion wearing a half face lid and goggles
obviously a very experienced pillion - not like a nooby who thinks they have to lob it over in corners, or a twitchy one who keeps looking behind them lol
on a run back from newquay once, a mates mrs fell asleep on the back of his beemer and slid off as he turned onto burtonwood services = fortunately unhurt but very much awake!

Holy sh1t! I havent even taken insurance for a pillion on the SP, no reason to. I bought the bike to hoon not tour.If and when I add a tourer to the stable then I would not ride flat out! It scared me just watching them. To be fair she loved it and takes the same risks as her husband, who am I to judge

Used to do lots of two up stuff and a lesson I soon learned quick was no matter how fast you think you are there is always someone out there quicker than you.
That's why I like to come second
Actually as long as bends are fast and flowing 2 up can be just as quick as one up. I always found the bike to be a bit more stable with two and if you have someone who trusts you and doesn't fight the bike you can be exceptionally quick. It's the tight naggery stuff that slows you down with hard acceleration and braking. Used to love going out with big bro when I was a kid, I still don't know if we were that great or just thought we were, either way, with some of our antics we thought we were indestructible. He'd be hanging off the front and I'd make sure my lid was always on the outside of his inside shoulder. Must have looked like a right pair of idiots but it was great fun
...so is this a private airfield or can anyone play???

I'd of paid good money though to see the pair of you coming over that serious dip on the old military road
up over the top of Haltwhistle, I still, to this day, have NEVER seen 2 dips whereby all you can see is the roof of a bus as it comes towards you.
..lol...I still haven't got the bottle to do it on the bike yet! The sheer scorch marks on the 'up' side of it kinds put my off pml......so is this a private airfield or can anyone play???
