off the road....

well, thinking long & hard, decisions decisions, still got bits of crash damage, some rough running...
winter fast approaching...new tyres, brakes, respray, powder coating, fuelling work & dyno time needed for the storm...
another bike sat in the garage doing crouton all... just needs a set of tyres..

so what do i do, do i buy new tyres for the storm and hardly ride it, or do i re-shoe the cbx and get it out of hibernation
decided it makes more sense economically to buy new tyres for the 750, as its mot is due in november anyway...
and seeing as i'm spending 5-600 a mth on fuel for the storm, should be plenty of £ for the changes i want to make while it's in bits, je pistons for one  and finally get round to fitting the rear spring and bigger vac valves...

i think next weekend will probably be bedtime for stormy - don't want to expose it to a harsh winter, that's what the other one is for with its heavy steel frame & comfy seat, heated grips, wet tyres...

spent the morning clearing the garage and making room for the change of ride, will need room to strip the vtr down to the bone for powder coating (free!!!)
i reckon it'll be off the road for 5-6mths, til spring, then unveilling with a sponning new paintjob and hopefully faultless mechanics & fuelling lol!

it'll be good to ride the old girl again, but jeez it's slow lol & heavy!

fill up most nights for a 100 miler, £15-£20 a go on a 19L tank, fridays usually a 1 or 2 tanker depending what the weather's like & what time i finish work and if i go for a blat on saturday its a good 3-4 fills, then sometimes go to a meet on sunday with a bit of a nightride later, inevitable visit to the pumps again... add that up, times 4.

last mth was a bit less, only £430 in receipts, but i filled up cash a few times, maybe another £50 or so.
and once or twice on my other card that i cant check online.
and i don't use it for commuting, purely for damaging the ozone layer and deafening pedestrians,

my bike is same as everyone elses. only times ive had exceptionally good mpg has been on long slow rides, usually in the rain when i ride like a fanny!

some maths, 2,900 miles last month, estimated 30mpg = 96.7 gallons or 439L, which at an average of £1.18/L = £518.02
and i dont think i've been out as much this mth due to the crappy weather!

gave the old girl a good seeing to today :biggrin
new oil & filters, balanced carbs, bit of a clean.... just need some decent tyres now but theyre pretty scarce being 16 front & 18 rear :/
not many places doing pair deals for them sizes & cba paying top whack seeing as it doesn't do much miles...

yeh i pinched them for my storm so have to put the storm ones on the 750 lol....
accidentally knocked it in gear while i was messing with carbs then couldnt get it back in neutral cos of no clutch lever!
isn't it a luxury having a centre stand!
want some new indicators for it as well cos the ones on it now are held together with gaffer tape! :P

couldn't believe how shiny it is under all that dust and overspray - even the original pipes came up ok
