And if you reverse the polarity on your oven, it works fine as a fridge.

A guy I used to work with lived in a caravan during the week as he lived a long way from the office. He used to bring loads of wifes cooking in a 12v plug in cool box and leave it in the car until he could get back to the van on Monday evening.

One day he managed to cut the wire to the box and repaired it the wrong way round, being used to 240v he didnt really worry, but of course he now had a hot box, had to eat a weeks worth in one go, still he wasnt totally daft, the van was kept in a pubs car park!

Brilliant, reminds me of using the megga on friends. You could pass a charge through any old conductive friendly object on the sly then pass it on and watch them yelp!

and of course we never did anything like that when I was a trainee. Nore did we pick on the trainee's when we had served our time

dont know about that, but it works the other way round

once i had a faulty microwave, turned out it was just the door catch that was misaligned, but as everything else seemed ok, i thought it mustve been the microwave generator thingy, which is basically a alloy block with a hole in it....
it was making a slight buzzing noise, so i unscrewed it and rather foolishly put it to my ear to listen....before realising what it was lol.
i reckon you could make a great toy with one of them

one of my favourite tricks with the megger was (is!) charging up large capacitors and putting them in people's pockets in the cloakroom, or just leave them lying around on the bench...
they don't half go with a crack!

has anyone tried the penny in the plug trick yet?
