Just a heads up to you lot be carefull when videoing with speedo and rev counters showing high speeds
TWO young men ended up in court after posting footage of themselves speeding at 90mph on the internet.

The pair could be heard whooping and screaming as they tore along The Stray between Marske and Redcar in east Cleveland, around two years ago.

Their reckless antics were reported to police last month after someone watched their actions on YouTube.

And the driver, 20-year-old Francisco John Zayas-Slater pleaded guilty to dangerous driving when he appeared before Teesside Magistrates’ Court today.

His passenger Jay Andrew Pepper pleaded to aiding and abetting dangerous driving after the footage was played to magistrates.

They could be heard giving a running commentary before celebrating as the Citroen C2 reached 90mph.

As the footage was being played 19-year-old Pepper put his head in his hands, shaking it in embarrassment.

Prosecutor Chris Atkins said: “In his euphoric state, Zayas-Slater can be seen to take his hand off the steering wheel while driving at 90mph. This incident of dangerous driving was for no particular reason, they weren’t trying to get anywhere or away from anywhere - it was just for the sake of it.”

The four-minute film shows the pair building up their attempt to reach speeds in excess of 90mph on the road where the limit is 40mph.

Talk about people running out of the way and the wet conditions were played down during the hearing as the boasts of two young men.

In mitigation (CORR)Denis Chisman said the incident had occurred two years ago and described it as ‘stupidity’.

He said: “This incident is two years old and was not reported at the time and, with what I can only say is the stupidity of these two young men, they put it on the internet and that is the only reason they are in court.

“This occurred at 3am in the morning, there was no other users about, they said there was nobody else there and it wasn’t raining.

“In fairness to them both, they have said they were young and daft. They both find themselves embarrassed at appearing before court.”

Both were given an interim driving ban and Zayas-Slater, of Lovat Avenue, and Pepper, of Stockdale Avenue, both Redcar, will appear before magistrates this morning (WEDS) to be sentenced.

They seem awfully impressed by the use of the word "mitigation".

You'd have thought in court that they'd have heard the word before.........

There are a couple of blokes on the Gixerjunkies site who have recently been arrested for the same thing. Videos of wheelies on the Cat and Fiddle run and tearing through villages at 90. Ride like a tw@ and video it and there should be no surprises really

Am I the only one who is shocked that these twats didnt get prosicuted big time?

I like a good laugh when out on the bike, and when the conditions are approporiate I have been known to "Make progress" but if [when] I get caught I have to accept that I get points and a fine.
But these knobs are going through 30 and 40 limits at dangerous speeds and have film evidence to back it up, and....................nothing!

Rant, rant

got to agree to that tbh - i think speeding & reckless driving in built up areas is a big nono & offenders should have an umbrella opened up their butt in public and be left hanging from a pylon by the handle.

plenty of off road places and deserted open spaces for hooniganism :Argue 1:

But you have to agree that it's very nice of the government to have turned off most of the cameras , and cut most of the traffic patrol cars to let us play in peace.

After all, if I want to obey the law and speed limits I'll take the car.
