Tyne Tunnel permits query armband

guys and gals,

Has anyone got a permit for the TT? :?: I ask because I can get a waterproof armband to hold it in wrapped around your arm etc. My query is this: If the armband displays the permit vertically and the reader runs horizontally, will it still work? It is very difficult, without spending a fortune, to find one that displays it horizontally and the mag strip across it runs horizontal....

So has anyone got one, and how is your displayed..? I know it is only 20p to use the tunnel and less with a permit  , but the hassle of getting money out when on the bike!

I have had one for my car for years on end so I ordered 2 for our bikes as we sometimes use the tunnel when visiting family and I used to live not that far from it in Forest Hall and will be going back home some day so it will get used once in while, but it is a nightmare on the bike fishing for money  and the permit is great when you are heading back to North Tyne side of the tunnel as you zip right through.I couldn't be without my car permit as I hate queueing and it will be 100 times faster when the new tunnel opens as I've watched the virtual tour and the tunnle used now, will be closed and upgraded once the new one opens, but by time the old one is upgraded, they will both operate one way traffic only so roughly around 3-4 lanes wide going way only ..Got to be great with a permit...

i use the tunnel fairly often and have seen most permits work whatever position they are in. just strap it to your forearm and wave it about until the barrier lifts!

Thanks Rich but I don't think wiggling your arm would work as the permit is scanned on approach and barrier goes up, if it ins't scanned, the barrier won't budge and you'd have to back up cos the reader doesn't work if you get too close..I'll ring the tunnel, that'll be the answer but thanks all the same..
