Hello people.
On saturday i thought i would put some road tyres on my R1 ( sorry not a vtr  ) beacuse i was needed on sunday at work. I work as a travelling marshall for the trackdays, and as it had given it rain thought some proper tyres would be better than the cut slicks i use. Anyway got a couple of diablo corsa 3's fitted on saturday morning and went out for a few laps of the TT course :D :D in the afternoon, going up the mountain at a reasonable speed 160-170mph, To scrub them in of course.
Sunday went to work in the lovely manx weather RAIN. Went out on track for a couple of laps to get use to it again. The rain stops and the sun comes outso i took some newcomers out for them to get use to the track, after a while a wave them past so i could play catch up :P . I come out of the chicane in 2nd wheel comes up click it into 3rd while wheel still up, maybe 70-80mph and as the wheel touches the ground BANG!!!!!

The left hand bar snaps off. With a wobble and shake i wrestle the bike and stay upright. Something to be said for steering dampers.
If it would of happened on saturday i might not be here now.

So i think i'll be doing the lottery this week, you never know with my luck i could win.

Eeeek! Any idea what your pulse shot up to when your lefty went limp! Take it back to a Yamaha dealer and set off a recall or was it previously damaged?

The bike is 11 years old and been a race bike since new. I bought it several years ago and put it back to road spec. It will put a lot of newer superbikes to shame. Not sure what's been done to it, but by f**k it's quick. So as to previous damage...Probably.
As for my pulse, put it this way my butt cheeks digested my boxer shorts.

Well, Didn't win bugger all on the lottery. :( :(

Anyway as the bloke who built me the top yoke for the vtr i've now ordered a top yoke kit for the R1. No more sore back or wrists. So when fitted i think i have probably got 2 perfect bikes for popping the odd wheelie on.

Not that i do anyway :biggrin .

It is costing the grand total of £200. That is yoke, bars,2x extended brakes lines, extended clutch cable, bar ends and grips.

I don't think that is to bad.
