Hello my v twin lovers!!!

:D Discovered this site, nice to be a part of it...... I foolishly have been thinking about changing my firestorm (have to speak softly in case it hears) to a tuono, i know i know sorry its a bad word, but after alot of thought, i quite simply couldn't do it, my beautiful red firestorm with burnt out (loud) remus exhuasts is for keeps......to my problem/query. I have been toying with the idea of upgrading via dyno stage1 and a new hi flow air filter, i also know honda's are not that fond of air box and carb tampering, however, my question is really this, is it worth it, is there alot of messing about to get it set up and is the reward worth it in hp?
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.....approaching the dreaded 20,000, getting a slight rattle from the cam chain, new tensioners on the way...no bike at the mo tho :confused

Entirely up to you, that one.
Some of us like messing around with engines, bolt-ons, go-faster bits, tuning etc, and some just want to ride 'em.

If all you want is quicker, then have a look in a couple of mags and choose the flavour of the month, but be prepared to keep chasing the dream when the latest, quicker one comes out.

But you can do quite a bit to improve the standard bike and make it more reliable, just have a look around on this site for other people's experiences.

Factors:
Funds available
Wife's permission
How you ride
Track days? street? commuter? Cafe posing?
Mechanical expertise/level of confidence/tools available
Whether it's a keeper or you like to swap around
What colour it is

Its red my friend, its a keeper, i was just wondering about the gains, i know some guys have posted threads here and there about gains but I am referring to the average guy in his garage, no dynos etc...basically i dont want to spend money that i dont really have to mess up what is a good bike is all

i quite fancy a tuono meself tbh.... i'd keep the vtr tho cos it owes me nothing and its a bit special.

regarding tensioners, you can get some pretty nifty manual jobbies here off rider on a storm - better than apes without a doubt
every track day ive been lately theres been at least one firestorm and they certainly keep up with the pack.... especially when the handling & braking has been fettled

people moan about fuel economy & tank range but in all honesty its no different than anyone elses bike who i ride with.... they all come alongside pointing at the tank sooner or later.

Welcome to the forum storm-in-a-vcup

One mod you might consider that won't break the bank is fitting a bigger rear sprocket, from the standard 41 tooth to a 43 tooth.

hello and welcome to the forum
i too have spent winter wondering what i can do to make my awsome bike even better
after a recent dyno run ive decided ill not do any internal mods for her like filters and jets
well not till i get to do a run with air and fuel measurements
for now ill stick to forks carb balance maybe shims entire bolt replacement stainless ones on fairing and the likes
then body works stuff like a full repair and respray of fairing and maybe a rear shock spring change
oh btw cct's aint a roundtuit mod there an essential like filling her up with fuel same goes for R/R

Thanks guys for all the advice, still kinda hooked on the stage1 dyno, will keep up the research and make a decision. Yes had indeed thought of the sprocket change and maybe it will go ahead....at the moment saving money for essential repairs...dyno or not to dyno still remains the ultimate question.
I have my ex cbr 6 V and M tuned race bike in the garage, maybe its time i turned it into something, leave my little storm alone!!!!!
