Hey just a quicky. Puttin my bike back together today and the rear light is one of these led jobbies with indicators built in I really like it looks good on the bike but the light to light up the reg plate does not work. On the standard light is there a light built into the main rear light to iluminate the reg plate. Has anyone else got and led back light does your one have a light to iluminate the reg plate i need to get it sorted or mot failure. Cheers

What about something like this?

From the looks you just use them instead of the standard bolts.

Right superb guys thanx for the help. Think ill just get a standard light then my led has a clear window at the bottom and leds in it but no lights cum on. Is there a seperate bulb in your light or just the two bulbs and plugs that gointo the main light unit

Havent looked but as far as I know its just the same bulbs. Once the lights are on then the plate is lit up.

My bike failed it's MOT 2 wks ago on the rear light/ built in indicator. They aren't road legal as the brake light has to be separate from the indicators! That was the ONLY thing it failed on, so Dave had to take the indis off my old Suzuki, take my whole rear unit off, swap them over, back to the tester, passed mot, back home and swap them back again.dave weren't happy but it passed now but beware, he was told the guy who normally tests my bike, couldn't fit me in as was away being reassessed to get his ticket back! He was local n had passed my bike when be shouldn't have! I've had my built-in rear lights/indis all the time as were on my bike when I bought it so I never knew!

Yep, I have two sets, a little dinky separate set and the built-in ones as well, working together.
So at MOT time I disconnect the built-in ones and it passes fine.

I took it in to see the mot tester the day before, and all he said was as long as he could distinguish the indicators from the brake light, he would pass it.
I have the same light/indo on the back of my bike... He passed it 2 years running, but has since lost his ticket to MOT,been sent to ggow for reassessment and get his ticket back, so beware, these are not meant to pass the MOT so be prepared for next one and as Tony says, have a second set there, as I now do...
