Hi guys and girls,
Just a quick message to say hello as I'm new to the board. I've been looking for a message board to help with VTR questions for a while, so very happy to join.

I'm sure its no different to any motorcycle club I have joined. Thats the great thing about biking, you'll always make new friends. Anyway, I've been surfing the board and see that some members advise to get cct's checked.. What are these guys?? i'm not thick, i'm just tired..lol

Cam Chain Tensioners.
A known weak point on these bikes, on most bikes if they fail it rattles, on Storms if they fail it introduces pistons to valves.......
Have a look in the Workshop thread for CCT, using Search.
We don't say Cam Chain Tensioners usually to avoid invoking the curse of the ghost of Soichiro Honda, (whose favourite nephew has a factory making replacement crankcaase inspection covers) and just say CCT instead.
It's a bit like in the theatre when you don't say the name "Hamlet", you just whistle it instead, Clanger-fashion.
And welcome!

Thanks guys,
Its hard being the new kid on the block asking questions like that, but if you dont ask you dont find out. Any idea what type of damage £££ it is to change the CCT's. I've owned my 1998 firestorm for 4yrs and its covered 19,000 miles so I should check them out.
Kind regards
lynski

No, you can't whistle for coughing with a Hamlet.
I used to go out with the daughter of the actor that played the waiter in the restaurant at the end of the universe for Hitchikers Guide, you know.

Welcome aboard Lynski
Address the CCT's as soon as you can. There's plenty over the years who have left it to late. You don't want to be a member of that club
Chris.
