i think you need to relax more mate... the storm isnt really an extreme riding position compared to full on sports bikes.
it really changed my riding position when i put rear sets on it... i only set them about 1" higher and 1" back but it's a lot more comfortable on the wrists & back
theres lots of other options too like fitting vfr bars - i had a set but gave them to h3r3t1c... you could ask if he's still got them?
also bar risers and the 'comfort kit;... lots of threads here on them.

I get this, more so in the base of mr right thumb! Sometimes have to shake it out for a moment. I dont get the wrist pain really, just the thumb.

I used to get this really badly, but yep relaxing is the answer, also dont lean on your wrists keep your elbows bent (like a chicken impression!)

This may be old hat to you but it helped me

Indeed as the fellas mention, relax. Obviously yer height/weight etc can be a factor and for the first couple of rides, my thumb/palms were a wee bit sore too. Once you 'mould' yerself on it isn't a problem.

when i first got my firestorm i found i was getting wrist and hand ache after 100 mile or so, which was cutting my rides short a bit.
i fitted vrf bars and found it a big improvement.
after crashing it, i put the std bars back on with rear sets and its probably the most comfortable riding position on any bike ive had apart from my old cbx.
cant wait to get back on it after riding the zxr for 5mth.... but saying that, even the head down position of the z is ok with no aches but slow town riding is a bit tiring.
i do find tho that with my alpinestars gp pro gloves i get hard segs on my hand along the seam under the fingers.... maybe changing your gloves will help too.

hi, yes in the base of my right thumb in the fleshy bit, its almost like a cramp but aches like crazy.
might try adjusting the brake lever a bit

Having followed the advice here, ie relaxing. Ive found its much better. I hadnt realised I was tense! I still get it within a mile or 2, but as soon as it starts, I physically make sure my arms are bent a tad and make a mental note to relax, and before I know it, its fine!
