My dad used to build and fly RC planes. Not the jet ones like above but standard fuel ones. Every sunday as a kid we'd go to the local army airfield when we lived in Germany and watch with boredom as he spent the day flying these things. He could take off and fly fine but had problems landing. I have memories of having to climb over a fence to rescue bits of his plane from beneath a 10 ton truck. Reports the following week came back that the way the thing crashed into the bottom the truck was a write off.
How one of these was wrecked:
By one of these:
I'll never understand.
He also had a glider with an 18 ft wing span. It got caught in a heavy gust of wind and folded like a sandwich. Turned into a helicopter as it headed groundward!

If im not working might pop up there myself, presume you mean Elvington near york. Only 1/2 hour away on the storm.
OMFG i want that sr71 I used to fly planes big time, even had a heli for a couple of years , then got married Now im single again, its just got me in the mood to get my funfly outa the loft and finish building it. Got a nice 10cc engine to go on the front .Near vertical takeoffs according to the box
Had a saab viggen a few years back, that was fun but the sr71 is gunna take some beating. Still toying with idea of making pulse jet. went to a show where a guy called guiseppe something, had a delta shaped plane with 3 mounted on top, and the ground was shaking on a low inverted pass lol
