Hi,
I have had my VTR since last September,love the machine/sound etc but the fuel consumption is lousy.
The one question I have at this time is CCT's,why do they fail on these machine's, is it a honda fault, and is there any way of preventing this.
I tend to change the oil regularly, every 4,000 miles as well as the filter.
Grateful for replies.

the front cct collects condensation and the spring rots over time.
theres a few fixes in the workshop section,
youre better doing it sooner rather than later tbh as you will kick yourself if it fails now that you know about it!

best off fitting manual ones tbh.

fuel economy int that bad for a 1000cc vee twin m8, no worse than the others.

how long would you expect the CCt's to last after being renewed,
or they something that need to be changed regularly, say at 30,000 mile interval.

ask tony mon... he had new ones fail within a few K, as have a few others.
there is no set timelimit.
others have had no problem.
too risky imo, get it sorted with manual ones then forget about it.

Yep. I replaced mine with brand new ones, failed and bent valves (on rear cylinder, go figure) after a few months.
I now have manuals....

Good advice from the others on the CCT's. You can either fit manuals or do the stopper mod (have a look in the Knowledge base from the Workshop section). You definitely can't rely on new ones.
