New owner!!!

Hi everybody,

Ive had my Firestorm since May and have been a member on here since I bought the bike but havn't had time to say hello. Got myself a T reg blue badboy and it had 21k miles on it. Its now up to 23K!!! I cannot get enough of it. I will upload pics of it when I find the time.

So modification wise, the bike was completely standard apart from a grabrail. Since May I have fitted a set of Fuel cans which makes an incredible difference! Fitted smaller indicators instead of those bloody landing lights that are standard. Got a smoked LED stop and turn light unit (have kept the rear blinkers otherwise it would have been illegal). The bike is currently in the workshop having new tyres and new chain and sproket kit (again cant fit myself due to time restrictions). Cant wait to get her back.

Looking for other mods that i can do performance and asthetic wise so any ideas please let me know.

Also another thing....Ive been a memeber of a few car forums and they have monthly/quarterly meets for each region....that a common occurence on this site? Would be nice to meet up with some other VTR owners.

Think I have waffled on for a bit now :D

Looking forward to the banter

Matt

EDIT**

Okay so got my butt into gear and uploaded some photos...they show the bike looked like when I first picked it up. Havnt got any recent photos of the mods ive done to it.

I have a red 98 storm and only do cosmetic alterations, some on here may call me a tart.

She has viper cans, but I would recommend an

1- aftermarket belly pan, mine is a moriwaki replica from skidmarx,
2 - rear hugger, I finally bought a pyramid as they reduced the cost to something us mere mortals can adrift.
3 - whilst I had the front end off replacing headstock bearings and new springs and oil, I polished the fork bottoms, done this over the winter in the dining room, much to the missus discust.
4 - double bubble screen, mine is an airblade, but I was cheap, and this one was.
5 - braided brake hoses
6 - eastern beaver upgraded light relay kit, to improve power to the dipped and main beam, as the standard is pants. If ya want you could fit a 100 watt bulb with the new wiring.
7 - renthal rear sprocket in gold to match the gold on the rims and calipers.

I have been 3 years in the making due to time and money, but its fun when you get a new bit to fit, and it gives the missus something to buy me for birthday and Christmas.

Welcome to the forum. Mods for the bike that will be recomended are as follows:

Upgrade the front springs. Money prevents me doing mine but they make a big difference to the handling.
Reg/Rec has a tendancy to go into meltdown and pop. Can be replaced with a later model finned one or a Yammi R6/R1 model (Which I have going for a reasonable price of.... Free)
Cam Chain Tensioners, Known weak link on the Storm and the front one tends to go kaput. If that happens you're looking at a worst case scenario engine change. Manual ones can be supplied by a bloke on the forum and can be fitted using the idiot proof guide in the workshop section.

I'm sure theres a few more that more knowlagable people on here will be able to tell you about. As for meetings. There's sporadic meetings and workshop days organised so keep an eye on the ride out section. One day I'll be able to join everyone on one.

Thanks for the responses guys. Will make a list of the items mentioned and slowly get round the them. Pinkyfloyd.......Reg/Rec for free?? Yes please  is it a straight swap then or will I have to modify the existing setup? And whats the benefits of upgrading it to the r6/r1 unit? PM the details mate if you want to get rid of it and if your relatively close I'll collect but it not ill pay for postage.
