wrap....

Post by benny hedges »

after doing a fair spray job in 2 pack, already it is bladdered with stonechips.
so after seeing this done on a gixxer last night, in black, i decided to enquire about cost, supply only as i reckon i could do a neat job myself...
quite fancy keeping the white against black frame....
anyone else done this yet???

i mean this stuff - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1270mmx600mm- ... 7361wt_702

available in all colours, but the white, black & anthracite look very nice.

still dont know wtf im on about?

and this is awesome.... complete whole bike custom decals...

what interests me is the fact that it is stonechip resistant, easy to clean and doesnt come off once applied, like other decals.
even on damaged repaired panels - like this fkt up gixxer

so anyway, ive ordered a small sample, enough to do either the front mudguard or pillion cowl, i'll have a go at applying it with a b&d heatgun and post up the results....
see how it stands up to abuse before i go order £200 worth, enough to do the rest of the bodywork in white and the frame etc in black / anthracite.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Let us know how you get on. I've been looking at getting a carbon fibre front mudguard but I reckon this could be a cheaper option.

Does like quite fiddly though.

i was thinking about this months ago, i really fancy the whole bike in carbon fibre, but i'm a spaz and i know i couldn't do a good job, in your favor benny is the fact that the storm doesn't have any extreme angles so it should make it easier.
i searched the net for a firm to do my bike for me, BLOODY HELL it was exspensive the best part of a grand, that put me off straight away, i still like the look tho
good luck with it matey, why don't you wait and do it on the hugger/tail tidy you might be getting......

the lad on the gixer got his done all over in black for 400, so if you shop around you can get a bargain.

if i cant to it i'll learn.
yup, white carbon hugger it is :)

I could make a right pigs ear of that! I've got the dexteritory of a lemon when it comes to that kind of things. So much so that I'm surprised that the VTR sticker badges I ordered from here went on straight!
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

hey all. I know a guy in coventry who has been doing this for a few years now. Looks great when its new, but after a while you start to notice it lifting off the concaved curves. Gets a little tatty and dated quite quickly.
As for sticking 'carbon look' anything on your bike, WHY WOULD YOU? !! We all know its not real and it defeats the object by adding weight. If you want the carbon thingy going on, buy real carbon. :Thumb Down:

simply cos im sick of stonechips.
won't be going for the black carbon look, but using the white instead.
not bothered about the edges cos i'll use trim on it when it's done so it wont lift.

the lad with the carbon wrapped gixxer had his done 3 mth ago and it still looks mint.
we'll see.
thing is, if i dont like it i can peel it off and the paint will still be good underneath.

No, it'll still be slightly off-white.
