Is the science correct or is it just a load of bollox??






Motorcycle Fuel Saver

Installation

Sounds like rubbish to me.

Ionising fuel would use a lot of energy, which must come from the battery or the alternator or somewhere. These electrons removed from the fuel must go somewhere, which, according to this sounds like they are ionising the oxygen too. An ionised oxygen atom is -2 but to create that, you need to split the oxygen molecule and provide electrons, which will come from the electrons removed from the fuel, but which again involves a lot of energy and something attached to the air intake, or possibly the carb? I dont know, but from reading their website, the EPS sounds like a pair of magnets attached to your fuel line, which neither have the power or the strength to ionise anything. To ionise something you need to be firing electrons at it, like in an old TV tube, or you need to be adding enough energy to the atoms so that the electrons can escape the atoms.

Whatever it is they are selling is a set of magnets around a fuel tube. They apparently somehow affect the fuel and polarise the molecules so that (im guessing here) when they enter the carb they repel away from each other and you get a better mixture.

Still not sure how all this is 'supposed' to work, because fuel such as hydrocarbons are not magnetic anyway, though maybe a magnetic field will affect them some other way.

Bio-Flow is one i used 20 years ago on a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Range Rover after that. It definately made them pull better and run smoother,but don't know about fuel saving, I think not. They are available to attach to your heating boiler either gas or fuel oil. I don't use mine on vehicles any more but on the gas pipe into the heating boiler and I'm sure it works on this as I now have the thermostat turned down a few notches for the same heat output.

When these last reared their head I was working for the AA, the motoring one! We were asked this question fairly regularly. After one call I contacted the technical department to get the answer, and was told "I cant believe you work for this organization and are asking such a stupid question"

lol, that says it all.............its like those balance enhancing bracelets they sell.......how could they work

Maybe it worked better on leaded fuel, as metals are more likely to be susceptible to magnetism.


Would a better magnet make it quicker?

If this did anything, you'd expect car manufacturers to fit them as standard with this push towards efficiency. As far as I'm aware nobody does.

Jazz, I have an excellent idea. Seeing as your good Mrs found this, perhaps she would like to try it out herself and report back to us. Then if it works we can all get one

I think Ill put a brick in the tank and save a bit of fuel that way.

i dont know bugger all about anything but
even if it did affect the fuel somehow how would you save fuel on it
without re-jetting and balancing the carbs fuel mixture department?
wont you just have funky fuel being used instead of normal fuel at the same rate?

This thingy had me interested.
It's just about sciency enought to capture my imagination and then it gets you wondering if it really could work. Molecule alignment, hydrocarbon burn efficiency, morecomplete fuel atomisation. Phew! all good stuff
Then I was shopping down town and an instore infomercial just happened to catch my eye. Guess what.... did you know if you put two powerful maganets around your incoming water main pipe you get softer water? Apparently it tastes better and wont clog up your kettle. Sound familiar?
And there I was thinking the answer to the universe was 42. Should have known it 's really just two big bloody magnets.

I remember a similar device that my father was tempted with for his Vauxhal Victor in 1963. Nothing new under the sun. Oh, btw, it didn't work.
