Haynes manual question

Post by darkember »

Ok I have a 2008 publication & have read through the valve clearance proceedure.

Rear Cylinder.
According to Haynes the RE & RI at TDC are facing away from each other level with the cylinder head casing and the lobes are pointing up and towards each other. This is exactly as what is written in the sticky in the knowledge base on CCT removal.

Front Cylinder.
According to Haynes the FE & FI at TDC are facing away from each other level with the cylinder head casing and the lobes are pointing up and away from each other.

The Honda service manual also stipulates this but only talks about the sprocket markings.

Please could someone clarify where Haynes is incorrect for this procedure or has the 2008 publication been ammended???

Sounds correct, tdc for front cam lobes pointing away from each other, and on the rear they are pointing towards from each other

IIRC the haynes info is correct but as you read through the stages it doesn't make it clear enough, and it's possible to get confused.
The Workshop sticky is a step-by-step plain and simple guide, I'd recommend if it's the first time you've done it to print it off and pencil a tick beside each step as you do them.

Sirch's one is much easier to follow, and you won't lunch your engine.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
