6k hesitation

Post by Miztaziggy »

Im getting a stutter at 6k, started yesterday after changing the oil and going for a ride and getting caught in a light shower.

It stutters at 6k in every gear with throttle fully open and then feels low on power above that.

I ordered new plugs just now, so will try that, and will check the HT leads in the daylight, but what are the signs they need replacing?

Also - I posted a question about carb cleaner as it might be something to do with that?

What else could it be? Air leaks on all them pipes under the tank? Is it worth replacing them where possible anyway as they are old?

Plug cap not on properly?
Fuel pipe clamped, if you twisted or caught it when replacing the tank?
TPS disturbed, and not connecting properly?
Or a leak on the vac lines?

If you check and none of those seem to be wrong, try putting the old plugs back in; it's not impossible to get a duff one very rarely.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

TPS disturbed, and not connecting properly? Ill check, but im not sure what to look for really...
Or a leak on the vac lines? Do you just replace these or is there a way to check for a leak?

Will put them in and hope they will sort it, if not, then will have to try other things like the items above

Was the hesitation present before the rain, or only after?

Im not 100% sure. Before the rain, I was with Sarah on her 125 and didnt go over 6k revs anyway.

We went home, she put her bike away and I went back out to go scrape my other knee slider in (which I did :D :D ). Only noticed it on the way home, but the fault might have been there all day.

Just had a thought....

After an oil change, I washed the bike, and at one point had the seat off and left the bike outside while I went to do something else. It rained and everything under the seat got wet.

Could the battery/coils or whatever it is under there getting wet cause a problem?
