hi all , just joined the site.i have had my vtr almost a year, used everyday for work, now i have retired it to a weekend bike/summer use machine and bought a sv650 for work / winter etc.
i like the high level exhausts but can you get just the link pipes as it has cans on allready and all the others ive seen are cans and pipes?
where can you get the twin headlight converion my mates bike has it on and it looks real good but have only seen it on american websites and would presume beam pattern different? plus i would rather buy it from uk.
thanks ..james

Welcome along James. Did you retire early or are you going for the oldest member title?
Enjoy the forum and use the search facility to keep up to speed with how to maintain your Storm.

hi there no im not retired ,my storm has been retired from daily use lol.was using it daily for nearly a year,i couldnt realy do anything to it cos of this.its allready got a few things done and new cam chain tensioners, but i like the high level cans and would like to strip some parts down and re paint etc.its done 40,000 miles but still very clean and i maintain it well, plus ive a spare bike in boxes under my workbench so plenty of spares!!!

Sorry fella, making you old before your time. Having re-read your thread I can see I mis-read it first time.
Are your new CCT's manuals or new Auto's?
There's a ready market on here for interesting bits & bobs if you have any spares you don't need.
All the best.

no probs, the tensioners are autos again.i was a bit worried about manuals as to overtighten them.there was nothing wrong with my old ones either but thought i should put in new.my spares bike was bought purely for personal consumption, but hopefully i wont need them!!
i was wondering about the failures tho as i have a failed one in my spares bike, when they go do they give some warning as they must have to screw back in when the spring fails?so would you get some engine noise etc before the big event?

hello and welcome james..
the conversion your looking for is the superhawk twin headlight unit...just emailed niceCycles to see if they're still available....they are pricy tho...$299.95....look em up.

sadly there's no warning with the tensioners, they just go...if your lucky and stop the engine quickly you MIGHT not damage anything but experiance says that valve to piston contact happens more often than not...

Welcome to the club. Now you have the chance to take your bike off the road, sounds like it's time to get modding. Don't forget the before and after photos
And as for the CCTs, as others have said, there is no warning, but if you don't fancy manuals, then fit the stopper mod to the stock ones and then they are failsafe. Instructions are in the workshop section......it is the solution I prefer, and the people who came up with the idea have tested it

thanks for the welcome guys, the stopper mod looks a simple but great idea.ive got a failed one to play with before i attack the new ones.I like the look of the headlight kit too,300 dollars is a bit pricey, but i will continue to think about it.i will be looking to do the high level pipes first and im going to try adjusting the gear shifter, then will take it from there..
thanks again..james
