Hi everyone .. It was suggested that I should move my winter project thread into this section so here it is :)

This was Shrek when it arrived.

It didnt look to bad at a glance but a closer look revealed the years of neglect :(

Hubby assured me it wasn't as bad as it looked :? It started ok from a lazy battery but it was clear the front pipes had seen better days, the front wheel was porous and the frame and metal parts were in need of attention !

The front pipes took some removing, one of the manifold studs snapped but we eventually got it out by welding a nut onto the remainder of the stud, I recall quite alot of swearing going on at that point  The frame has been rubbed down, Kurust treated and repainted ( its getting more paint soon) Wheels were blasted and painted white and an oil and filter change while we were there.

So that's about it for now as were waiting for a few bits n bobs to arrive but I think its coming on :D I will keep you all updated

That second shot looks like part of a North Sea oil rig!! It should keep you busy through the next few weeks.
Good luck.

I had this with a zxr6 I rescued from a long stand on its own in a cold shed.

Strip the carbs once more, clean thoroughly, and fit an in-line fuel filter, to stop bits from the tank clogging jets up.
If the bits are softer than rust, it's the insides of fuel lines or maybe a carb/fuel tap gasket disintegrating.

Its alive again :D

Turns out it was just a weak battery after all that, Seemed to kick it round ok but just didnt have enough to start it :?:

Was funny watching Chris cringe as one of our neighbours rode it side saddle bouncing on and off it down our road last night untill it started  New battery fitted and now it cracks first time :cool2

Almost there with it now, just had new plugs and air filter then fresh fuel but im still not happy with the finish on the engine laquor think were going to have to do that again !! The belly pan is being fitted as I type then its time for a good wash n polish :D

Now to decide what to do with it once its finished
