As some of you maybe aware i have been off work with a hip injury for over 2 years. After loads of test and medicals it came to light that I had torn the labrum in my right hip socket and it was to badly damaged so needed hip resurfacing.
I under went the surgery in may last year , i,m still in pain and have to use a stick to still get about. Since the opp I have gained around 7kg in weight, I now have breathing problems and lower back pain with knumbness and tingling in the upper legs and back side, I have had scans and mri scans, I,m going next month for an mri scan on my lower back to try and finfd out what the problem is. fingers crossed
Trouble is all this takes its toll on you mentally and physically. I,m on sleeping tablets and now my doctor has put me on antidippresents, so with the pills my doctor has given me and the pain killers I take,. I float around the house most of the day .
However , in the last week or so. It,s come to light that the hip now inside me may in time actually posion me . FFs what more can go wrong . There sayig that the metal on metal causes metal fragments to braeak off and cause tissue , muscle damage in the area and can enter the blood stream. While at the hospital the last visit , I at talking to a lady who had this joint done some years ago, and she got poisioned by it and it had to come out. She now has the ceramic typ which keeeps dissclocating on her.
In April 2010, the Government agency, which is responsible for ensuring that medicines and medical devices work and are acceptably safe, issued an alert to healthcare professionals over the safety of metal implants.
The MHRA advised that people fitted with the devices should undergo annual check-ups for five years following surgery. It also said that those experiencing pain should be given tests to check the levels of cobalt and chromium in their blood, and an MRI or ultrasound scan to check for soft tissue reactions.
So , look like after all this time, i,m not much better off and will need surgery again . Sound like I may have to sell the storm after all . well not been well enough to ride it for nearly 2 years now.
