VTR1000.ORG

I am looking for some new exhausts, and I cant decide whether to go for steel or alloy. I assume that the steel ones are more robust?

Also has anyone heard anything about A16 pipes or SP Engineering ones?

I know another flippin' exhaust question...........

i've heard sp engineering are good and they have some lovely cans to boot.
my order of preference is this.
titanium
carbon
stainless steel
ally

just my preference mind you.....

I've heard of SP Engineering but don't know anyone that's bought or fitted anything from them, must admit thier stuff looks the part though
First choice for me would also be Titanium, then Stainless steel, then ally, although my second choice could be Carbon depending on which bike it was going on, don't forget that most manufactures won't honour the warranty if you put them on a Big V Twin (I take it they are going on a Firestorm) as far as I'm aware it's something to do with the pulses that a V Twin makes just wrecks Carbon Cans in no time, if I'm wrong and anyone knows different then please post up and correct me

OK why titanium? Apart from looks, is there another reason? Do they last longer, make you better in bed

I take it the alloy being least popular is because it damages easily or does it corrode the internals?

And it is for the 'storm.

the ali need polished often i know as i have ali cans
the titanium look cool and are very light
carbon has a nicer sound but dont last long on a twin
steal is heavy and last the longest

In my opinion only.
Titanium looks good and stays that way with very little effort, just give it a wipe with Mr Sheene and bingo, good as new, very light, gives a bike a touch of class, it doesn't matter what bike you put it on it will always just blend in and not stick out like a sore thumb

Carbon sounds great, looks good on some bikes but not so good on others depending on style and colour, in some cases kind of putting it into a time slot, like a fashion thing belonging in the midd 90s to early 2000 if you know what i mean, V twins usually wreck them in no time

Stainless is good but needs a bit more polishing and looking after, touch them and you'll end up polishing them again, in fact if you just look at them you'll end up polishing them again, the toughest of them all though, bit of an Hob Knob

Ally needs a lot of looking after, you'll have to keep polishing them to keep them looking good or they'll dull off and frost up (corrode) they dent and scratch easily, you'll be lucky if you get them out of the box and on your bike without scratching or denting them, bit of a Rich Tea.

As far as I'm aware the internals are all the same, it's just the outer sleeves that are different.

Look at some of the members bikes to give you a good idea of what will suite yours the best.

Just for the hell of it, this is a Titanium one on my 98 FireBlade, also done with Mr Sheene

For me it would have to be titanium looks the business a real top level factory look

ive had a number of cans so far, alloy and steel, next time im just going to fork out the extra and get the Ti ones, dads has a old style Blue flame EVO can in titanium and its looks mint

Titanium all the way, I got a Mori-Waki system on hte Big One & you just cant beat the stuff!

Well I love the look of the can on cheekykev's blade,what are they and do they do them for the 'storm? However I also like the SP engineering ones with the HUGE end pipe, but their Ti ones are all coloured, which may be a bit much on a teal bike.

Ah decisions decisions, all thanks to the taxman realising he got it all wrong last year.........
