Reg/Rec Swap

Post by jono49 »

Swapped my Reg/Rec today for the CBR125 finned type! £12 off Flea-bay  Mine had the old resin type fitted, and when i bought the Old girl the previous owner said he recently fitted a new battery, So I took some readings off the old one and found it was kicking out 15.86volt after everything was switched off and back to idle, I done a test under load with the headlight on, indicators, brake light, etc and it coped well enough at 4,000 rpm but when I switched everything off and returned to idle the regulator did not switch at 14.4 volts! So swapped for the CBR125 unit and it switched at 14.09 volts and coped under load very well, and when i put the clamp meter on it was pulling 7 A/h and i was using my "Maplins" Currrent
meter at the same time with the headlights on and it was drawing 5 Amps..ish so everything looks Rosie  and what with the mirror extenders fitted on Saturday things are taking shape for the season ahead!!! :cool2

Jono, nice one

Glad to see you've fitted a second fixing bolt unlike many

A very posh amp meter you have there, I'm more familiar with the old analog type :)

Cheers Chris
£10 from Maplins  They have both Maxi and mini blade models...........Handy seeing what a circuit is pulling current wise, And i tested mine against my multi-meter and they are pretty accurate :!:
