Took my old CBR6 into the shop for some work (it's sat in the garden for a Year!) and it just so happens he has a '98 Storm in there for sale and will take my bike as p/x.

Need to have a good look at it, and sort out the numbers, but I've always wanted a Storm so it seems like fate!

Anyway, joined up here to have a read up on them (all seems good) so will report back when I know what's happening

Good luck fella, see if you can get a test ride first. They are different to the IL4, in a good way, but best to make sure it's for you.

Exactly. Don't ride it like your 600 though. Make use of the torque, there's no need to rev it hard in every gear to get moving

As the others have said, make sure you try it first and be prepared to change your riding style......but you WILL love it and wonder why you never made the switch earlier.

Welcome, I have recently made the switch and I love it. It's nice not to have to give it full throttle to get anywhere. The torque is somthing else.

Do check out the workshop section here, then you know what to look for on your possible sale.

Just been down to have a quick look at it, loved it, and left my bike as a deposit
It's subject to a test ride which I'll do next week, but the only big twins I've ever ridden before I thought were awesome so it should be good.
As I've got older I appreciate torque more and more, it always felt wrong wringing the nuts off an inline four!

Best thing is it's the fastest colour of all, SILVER

I went from a CBR6 to the 'storm, as other say, you'll change your riding style. My pointer would be watch out for that engine braking.

On the CBR6 I would bowl up to a corner, notch it down a gear and then blast through it. Tried that on the 'storm when I first got it... It locked the back wheel up, stepped out and when I brought the power back in to try to get things back in line again it spun up the back wheel and I completed the corner speedway style... Stayed on, must have looked super brave, but I crapped myself!

So be careful in those low gear, especially on cold rubber, the engine breaking is like sticking a scaffold pole through the rear wheel! In fact you don't even need to bother changing down for the corner, there's so much torque. Just chase that apex and then open her up on the exit and try not to grin like a fool as the front end goes skywards!

Although on a silver one you might have to get off and push it up hills

Now this bit about the CBR sitting in the garden for a year and needing to go to the shop??? I just fired up my VTR after it has been laid up for over 4 years without even having to put fresh fuel in it... Are you sure your old bike wasn't a Yamaha?
