Hi

New to the forum - although been a 'lurker' for quite a while :) Got a '98 Storm in red and love it. Added fairing lowers, hugger, fender extenda, givi rack, bar risers, double bubble and heated grips. No engine mods as fast enough for me!

Cheers :D

Cheers for the warm welcome. Funnily enough, just had CCT's replaced by local mechanic - but not manuals. Might need to rectify in the future >.< Not sure what you mean by RR? My Storm is in excellent shape - will post some photos I have also recently repainted the forks with Halfords stuff and they turned out really nice.

R/R Regulator/Rectifier - early unfinned ones double as a kettle element and have a habit of inconveniently frying the battery. The part was superseded with a finned version fitted on 2001> models.

Re CCTs Have a search for APE, Bazza, Krieger or Rider on a Storm manual CCT alternatives and the DIY fitting guide to save you grief.

Hi Steevn,

RR is the regulator/Rectifier better know as the Rectum Fryer!

If it fails it will cook your battery. Easy to change Plug & play Honda replacement or go for the Yam R1/R6 one which is bigger but requires some chopping of wires to fit. Look in the workshop database for info.

Where are you based? We are holding a Workshop Day in North Kent, see Sunday Runs section, your more than welcome to pop in if your not far.

Mac.

Regulator/rectifier located under the seat side panel on the right as you sit on it. Early ones, without fins on the face, fail and often take out the battery. Change for later model Honda one (many models fit) or Yamaha R1 or such version.
The auto CCT's could do with having the stopper mod done to secure the future of the engine. Have a good read through the forum posts to see what is available to you.

Cheers guys. Was aware of the CCT issue but pushed for time in getting work done (sun was briefly shining :P ). I will look at the rectifier and change if needed - cheers. Is the stopper mod easy to do - I am no mechanic?

I am based in Teesside/North York area BTW.
