Hi to all.

Got my first bike at the age of 40 a couple of months ago. I figured "what the hell" and went straight for a firestorm. None of this 600 learner bike rubbish. I have to say I am absolutely loving it! So much character. She (I presume that all bikes are female) is a 2000 with 29k on the clock, but is in great nick. Looks and sounds great with a nice set of Remus cans. Vroom vroom! :D

Hello and welcome .
Take it easy as it has power
And will catch you out very easily .
I'd recommend short shifting 1st gear for a while lol .
Have fun and learn the bike

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone, and thanks for the advice about taking it steady.

I know I could have chosen something a bit easier to get experience on but I am not planning on going mad to start with. I am enjoying getting to know the bike and gaining a little bit more confidence every time I take her out.

You are right: There is certainly plenty of grunt there!

I live in Kesgrave, near Ipswich. Anyone local?

Good idea.

The neighbours would definately hear three of us coming!
I went to Bently for the first time on wednesday. Also first time riding in a group. It was a bit quick for me to be honest. Still taking it quite steady. Haven't got the hang of this overtaking lark yet. Need to stop riding like I drive a car!

Cheers Stu.

you take your time mate , safety first. the back roads to bentley are fun but classic accident areas if you are not careful.

Welcome aboard Stu

The Firestorm can appear to be a laid-back type of bike, but trust me it can still catch you out if you get carried away with the throttle, so take sometime in learning this new big bike.

It's not only gaining experience with a big bike that takes time, it's also a new big learning curve in reading the road, and other drivers/users, it's almost like a 6th sense you gain over the years. Even then the most experienced rider can still be caught out, so do take care.

When driving a car etc you have a certain amount of protection around you. On a bike this is no longer there as no doubt you've realised, so this means you need to be that much more alert and anticipate what other road users are doing or likely to be doing long before you get close to them.

Take care out there and enjoy your new adventure,

Chris.
