Engine whine ???

Post by Diabolus »

Engine sounds whiny when under load any ideas ??
I swapped ccts for manuals over 1700 miles ago and backed them off once as I thought they were a bit tight and seemed fine.

Is the noise speed or engine revs related?

Try undoing both cct's two flats, and see if it makes any difference.
But overtight cam chains make a squeal on startup which goes away once oil pressure gets up.
That doesn't sound like what you're describing, tbh.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Is there any specific area the sound is coming from. can you pin point it to one side or the other. I'm thinking water pump, isn't there an impeller inside it. This may be starting to seize causing a wine or squeaching noise as it spins.

Just a thought, but it would definitely help if you could try and pinpoint the sound.

Maybe someone nearby can be of assistance.
Unfortunately you haven't put your location in your details, so don't know where that is.

I topped up with some more castrol power 1 , took 500ml I've been out with my daughter on the back and the whine has gone ! its there at pre 4K rpm (quiet) and gone post 4k rpm as was used to be, just an animal awaiting some 8k-9krpm fun (without whining)!! lesson learnt keep the storm at top of oil mark or hes not happy !!!
I know that the filler cap is leeking as its not the right one as it moves from side to side when nearly tightend im gona go for a pro-bolt one asap.
