This is what happens when you're the sort of person that goes to the supermarket for a loaf or something but then thinks about all the other stuff you need whilst you're there.

I've had the storm since new in '04 when I picked it up to replace my cbr600 which got nicked. Didn't do much to her other until 2011 when I seem to have had delusions of grandeur with regards my engineering ability... The pics below are where I've got upto so far.

Essentially I had a very slow speed fall and put a hole or two in the fairings. I patched these up but a few months later started getting pains in my right shoulder after riding for 30 mins. I decided to change the adjust the suspension, the rear shock was a bit knackered so this was the start.... my loaf of bread if you will.

An ohlins shock and a fork rebuild later and my shoulder still hurt so that's when I figured I needed a new seat, then exhausts, seat, swingarm, fairings...... all I have to do now is figure out how to fit the new headlights and fairings and I can test her out to see if my shoulder still hurts....

The swinger..... Gone for a bit more of a meaty option...

With a bit of luck and if I don't think of other stuff to add (that I can afford / make) I'll have her back on the road by Christmas!

i'm looking forward to the finished bike buddy, obviously not as much as you, a massive thankyou for the fairings, have you decided on a colour yet or are you going with the satin black look for the time being?

Re the SA, it looks great but you still have the original chain adjusters on.
Chopping the ends off the Blade arm and welding them on instead of the std ones would also give you the option of Blade adjusters, and there are some great aftermarket ones which fit those.....

ť .sdneThanks guys.

BENE - it's the same as many of the storm gurus have done already. It's built from a blade brace and a storm swingarm but with the sides filled in.

BSM - no problem mate. I really can't decide in the colour. you were dead right about satin black rather than Matt black though. satin looks like it's done on purpose, matt black looks rough whatever you do. You are right in that I really want to get the thing back on the road but I fell on my building site 5 weeks back and done my wrist. Currently couldn't ride it even if was all together! :(

LLOYDIE / AMCQ - it's a good thing to do over winter as it takes ages. I'm still not happy with the finish so may have another go. Basically I plated the gap between the arm and the brace and then shapes it with flexible fillers and glassfibre tissue. If I did it again.... Which I might then I reckon I would give the whole thing a coat of resin and the wrap in carbon fibre. Obviously need the resin due to cathodic corrosion.....

TONYMON - yep that's exactly what I should have done. Spent too long trying to shape it and didn't pay enough attention to the ends. I'll do that if I do a 2 nd version over winter.

I'll update this thread as I add stuff.
