Hamilton Has Left McLaren

Lewis Hamiltons boyhood dream was to become a formula one driver for McLaren. He got the job that he worshipped, got the medal, the money, glamour, glory and press. Now he has left Mclaren to replace Michael Schumacher at Mercedes most probably starting next season. It looks like he will be replaced by the new up and coming Mexican Perez who from what I have seen so far is an extremely good driver and possibly better than Hamilton in many ways.

I was hoping he would win a race before retiring, would have been nice to see him with McLaren or Ferrari. I think the closest he's got is third on the podium since coming back. Superb driver and has mostly managed to finish in the top ten still.

Mention for Button and the grown up and normal way he treats his sport and role. Never liked Hamilton by comparison. Webber's like Buttin imo - superb skills, yet normal blokes who have the maturity to handle their skill and fame.

Perez, Maldonado, Grosjean etc - all have something to offer in the future.

btw - the Punch in the Face thread. Should have mentioned Ecclestone. butt

Apparently Schuey wants to carry on, and Apparently, Peter Sauber, Sergio Perez's boss, said he'd be more than happy to have Michael...Apparently. I hope he stays, I still think he's a class act, and with the right machinery, could win it. Look at Monaco qualifying, you don't set the fastest lap there if you're not a wee bit special.

Totally agree. But saying that you stick any of those drivers in the right car with the right team and they will do well. It's just some of them are that little bit extra special.
I would love to see Hamilton with Sauber or someone not up front in the points. I enjoy it when he's at the back or middle of the pack as we get to see some of his more daring overtakes.

in my mind its quite simple, every race is 2 weeks apart, at the end a race the manufacturers throw their keys in the pot, last man first. Every driver has a seat and pedals which all fit in the same size cockpit. They then have 2 weeks to adapt the car and driver and practice. I dont think Mr Schumaker would be up to much then, it takes that over paid crout 2 frikin years to get his cars sorted, and thats only if he is Number one or he spits out his dummy

I never liked Hamilton. He seemed to always have to blame someone bar himself when things dont go his way. To be honest on Mercedes performance to date I'm going to enjoy watching him throw his teddies out of the pram when the car does not perform. Button on the other hand is a cool normal guy & is in a championship winning car. Alonso I feel is probably the best driver out there he is so consistance in a sub standard car.
