a while ago i had a cutting out problem and thought i'd found the culprit when i cleaned the k&n filter out but it seems to have returned.the bike runs fine upto 80mph and then dies on me,if i catch it right it'll keep running but it's like it's starved of fuel...i want change the fuel lines for clear pipe and also the vacuum pipes again..my questions are...
1.what size are the fuel and vacuum pipes and which inline filters do you recommend
2.could the problem be the carb diaphrams/sliders,if so can anyone recommend the best place to gets some from.
i have a fuel tap coming from a member which will have a service kit fitted before it's fitted which should rule the tap out.
if i'm missing anything else that causes this problem your input/advice would be great
thanks

Re: 2 quick questions
Does this cutting out happen just after you've filled her up with petrol by any chance
as that can happen when over filling the tank. We used to hear about that happening on a regular basis, although we hardly ever hear about it now on here.

Re: 2 quick questions
Check there aren't any kinks or that that the tank isn't compressing any of the hoses esp. the fuel lines.
Another thing is to make sure your vacuum line/s are tight and secure and attached correctly.
Here are the diameters (see in description {in brackets}) for your hoses

Re: 2 quick questions
no each time it's happend the tanks been only half full which makes me think it's either the fuel tap has a hole in it and/or the rubbers in the top of the carbs have a split/pin hole in them...it did do this 2yrs ago and it was the front coil that was breaking down but i've tested them both as per the manual and they're both fine..i've got some more standard coils coming from ebay but i'm seriously thinking about the stick conversion now.
cheers wicky..i did buy some but i can't find them after my nephew raided the garage when his cb500 sprung a fuel leek...kids for you eh..

Re: 2 quick questions
Is it only at high speeds it cut's out, or is it doing it as you coming to a stop as well. I would not have thought it would be the slides/diaphragms, though it wouldn't do you any harm to strip them down investigate and give them a clean, blow out all the passageways. You say you can just catch it which is interesting, Is this by easing off the throttle then accelerating back up. I wonder what size mains your running. It may be worth pulling the choke out a touch and seeing if it improves or makes things worse.
It could be an electrical problem and not fuelling, especially as it seems to be intermittent, if you had it before and then it went.

Re: 2 quick questions
by "catching it" i mean that when it starts to die i dip the clutch and flick the throttle, sometimes it keeps running but it's like it's starved of fuel or similar to the effect of running out of fuel...if that makes sense......if i don't catch it it cuts out but restarts after 2-3 mins stood which makes me think it's a fuel problem n not electrical because when it does cut out everything lights up on the dash, the headlamp doesn't go off and if i press the starter button while coasting it spins fine...only after it's been stood for 2-3 mins it fires up...it's like there's blockage somewhere and it's having to wait for enough fuel to get through...i'm changing the fuel lines and fitting inline filters, the tap and breather pipes will be replaced too

Trapped pipe

Re: 2 quick questions
Fuel tap diaphragm may have a hole in it?
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Re: 2 quick questions
I had a similar problem on my gsxr, tried several things in the end it was a coil breaking down when under load as it only did it at speed and after running for a while, it was as if i had run out of fuel.
