On my Ducati, the bolts are covered with a gold coloured coating
It comes off when I clean them up on the wire wheel
What is the coatingg?
Not anodising is it?
That's just for aluminium I think
What coating is on the bolts
Re: What coating is on the bolts
for automotive bolts it would normally be a Zinc plating with a Gold passivation [not real gold, just a yellow colour]

You can anodise steel. We get a lot of our brass anodised for a better look and harder finish in work. Poor quality, cheep , will come off quite quickly with some metal polishes though

Re: What coating is on the bolts
The golden colours are most likely zinc plated, most motorcycle applications use heat treated bolts and Doerken coating that can come in different colours, but the most common is dark gray/green or black
You never see a motorcycle parked in front of a psychiatrists for psycho therapy. All I need is cycle therapy
