Feedback after TPS and longer velocity stack on front
I finished a little work on my storm and took it for ride this morning to see what the bike rides like now. I set the TPS to 500 ohms, adjusted the throttle cables, fitted a long inlet trumpet / velocity stack to the front carb, , fitted a new genuine air filter and iridium spark plugs then took it for a ride of about 30 miles or so this morning. The bike rides really really well now, smoother, picks up great and very eager to pull hard through the revs. I think the TPS has a lot to contribute to this, I am chuffed to bits with the bike now its fantastic to ride bring on the summer

Re: Feedback after TPS and longer velocity stack on front
i've been running a lightened flywheel for a year or so, imho i can take it or leave it, yes it revs faster and quicker, but it also makes everything that little bit more frantic, i think i prefer the normal flywheel, the lightened one will be left in my second bike when i sell it. i'm sticking with the standard set up on the spondon framed bike....except for the billet stacks that is...

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: Feedback after TPS and longer velocity stack on front
That should make things a lot smoother from idle up into the midrange. A carb sync should be in order now, especially after putting the second long stack on.I think the TPS has a lot to contribute to this

The thing that puts me off a lightened flywheel is the loss of engine braking. I think that's one of the things that makes the V-Twin. Though I might try it one day and if I don't like it then it can easily be changed back.

Yes, agreed.cybercarl wrote:

I've ridden a few bikes with the lightened flywheel, and it changes the character of the bike away from the v twin feel- heavy engine braking, that imperceptible sense of speed building rather than acceleration- although you seem to get to the same speeds just as quickly- and the sure-footed rear wheel control, especially in the wet or in slippery conditions, that makes getting these into corners easy, then allowing the engine to punch you out again.
It's almost as though with a lightened flywheel you're trying to get it nearer to an il4 feeling- and if I wanted an il4, I'd have bought one.....
Each to his/her own, of course. I'd be looking for a little off, rather than as much as possible, if I were doing it. Just my personal opinion, of course, you're entitled to your own opinion and set your own bike up how you like it- we all ride differently anyway.
But i definitely see the point for a track bike.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
