having a right mare of a day !!

Post by lloydie »

rang up carol nash to go ahead with quote and went through all the detail as you do .all was going well till the mods ! the paint to be precise as it has number boards the quote went from £140 to £850 for fooking number boards .
when i had the paint done i did ask carol nash if it would increase the policy and they said no (fooking liers )
so im now trying to find somewhere to insure it at a price near £200 but not finding anywhere !

thats stup1d
there ain't even any numbers on them, carol nash have let themselves down, i understand that if a bike has numbers on it, the police can look at it and say its a race bike, even tho it clearly isn't.
go to a decals company, get them to match the green colour the best they can, then ask them to knock up the 3 patches of vinyl shaped to fit over the numberboards. then if you have a claim, just stick them on so they ain't visable. not perfect but it would cover your butt.
i'm dreading my insurance on the spondon bike, my renewal this year was £650 fully comp. i did declare every mod tho, it took ages and o had to have pictures taken to back it up. tbh i wish the bike was more standard.
try adrian flux.
did you declare your other mods lloydie. 2 into 1, sp cooler, and so on?

MCE? They offer unlimited modifications with no extra cost to the premium as far as I'm aware (I know this because we phoned them up about my Ohlins and it made zilch difference). Same with mileage, then you can stick 15k on and never worry

Try Compare the market Lloydie and see what they come up with its a fantastic paint job and it would be a pity if you end up not being able to insure it and I dont think its a number board without the numbers simples.

when a bike is modified it just isn't worth trying the compare websites, if the mods are simple ones its ok but when they're more involved then its a waste of time. there aren't many insurers that'll take your business and the ones that do will charge you a hefty premium.
its crazy because its just a paint job. i still feel your better off coming clean and listing all the mods, because when/if the sh1t hits the fan, thosw weasel insurance companies will wriggle out of the policy.
keep searching lloydie, have you tried adrian flux yet?
the only way i got my bike insured last year was to agree that if the frame got damaged i would accept a standard frame as a replacement, which is crazy because they would just right the bike off anyway....

They class it as a special race paint .
Even just the green on its own without the number boards puts it up !
I don't think I'm going to get it any cheaper than £350 so I'm now trying to get the best policy

just tell them you had the bike painted green, surely they don't asked for the colour code?
