Looking for Love

I've been hanging around this site for nearly a month now so i thought i'd better introduce myself.

I bought a Firestorm new in 1997 and during the time i owned it i went to the F.I.M. rally in Sweden, toured Norway for a week, and did a tour down through Britain to end up at a rally in Lands End for the solar eclipse in 1999. (i live in the Shetland Isles)

I wrote off this bike in 2001 (thankfully no serious injury) and with the insurance money bought a year 2000 VFR800, a better bike for touring as it has a bigger tank and this particular bike came with hard luggage. I thought this was the ideal bike for me, but time has moved on and i now have a family and have recently just finished building a new home( haven't been on the bike for 4 years!) so don't have much time to get out on a bike.

The VFR is a good bike but i still yearn for a Firestorm. My firestorm was by no means perfect, it had a terrible fuel range, sometimes would cut out at junctions for no apparent reason, you had to ride around town in 3rd gear as any higher it would start to judder, but all this gave it character!
The styling of the bike just seems spot on to me, it still looks like a modern bike.

The reason i joined was to find and buy another Firestorm. It has to be a red one (the fasted) in good standard condition with low milage and preferably the newer model with the bigger tank.

I've been searching MCN, Bike Trader, Gumtree and e-bay to try and re-unite myself with my true love.
Hope i'm not asking for too much!

hello and welcome, good luck with your bike search, you'll be looking around the £2000 region, for a low mileage late model, it would probably be more but for the fact that you want red....

£2000 ??, Late low mileage is worth somewhat more than that mate. do wish people wouldn't keep trying to de-value our bikes :?

Mine only cost slightly more than that and it's an '05 model with less than 8000 miles... Not including the numerous upgrades

It just means I always have a makeshift notepad next time someone annoys me so I can plot their demise. And yeah, I will admit it was a bargain but that's irrelevant :p

Welcome to the forum, you are (as far as I know) our second member from Shetland. You probably know a fair bit about Storms already, especially living in Shetland  but have a good read through forum and you will get an idea of what things to look out for, known issues etc.

Hi there & welcome. Anything from 20K down is low mileage for an engine of this size. Red Bah; don't see the appeal & its common as muck. Now snot green that's different just don't try & insure it

just being realistic fella, this time of year might add a few hundred to that price, but as virt said, its around that money, as much as i think they're worth more, its the market that dictates the price. as an owner that is about to put a bike up for sale, i'd love to ask big money for my bike, but unless i was lucky i'd just be waiting and waiting for a buyer to come along.
