What to use instead of wd40?

There have been a few discussions about using an alternative to wd40 when waterprooofing electrics

Something like ar50?

I am sure it was AMQ

GT85 is good. Also good as a cleaner and acts as a good barrier on paintwork so if you get loads of bugs on your bike they just wipe of nice and easy. Used to use it on my mountain and road bikes when I cycled. Worked a treat.

Acf-50 and wd40 are the only ones I know off

Well WD is a dispersant so disperses any water away. But just to throw something else into the box, here's an alternative http://www.bilthamber.com/lubrication/ferrosol A bit pricey but has many uses and by going by the rest of Bilts products I have used, this should be the dogs dangles. Not tried it myself but I think next time I'm ordering some wax and stuff I may give it a go. Been meaning to get some for a while.

Wurth do something called ultra 2040, it's brilliant stuff far better than WD40, it's probably expensive wurth stuff usually is but my work buys it for me

ACF 50 is very good at waterproofing, rustproofing, is thicker than WD or GT85 so stays longer. I use it a lot excellent stuff

Dielectric grease or Silicone grease is best for what you want...Loads on ebay, get it right into the plugs & joints.

I'm quite partial to using a spot of vaseline myself.
Just get a big glob of it in the palm of your hand and then stuff it into all your plugs and sockets.
The great thing is, the Mrs always has some around the house somewhere so you don't get caught out halfway through a job and have to go out and buy some....Mind you, it must look a bit odd running up to the garage with vaseline in one hand and a box of tissues in the other
