Would love to be able to try a track day, to that end, does anyone have a set of leathers or zip together suit I could borrow?

If I like it enough I can then sort out getting a set

5ft 8inch 36 waist

Are you thinking of the evening one at Cadwell flatty?

If so I think you will need to book in quick. Why not get it booked straight off, since it's only £45, then that'll force you to get the leathers sorted? :D

If so, couple of options for you:
Find an e-bay second hand suit on the cheap?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dainese-1-Pie ... 257f1538c4
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Texport-2-Pie ... 3cd287f2f7
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Frank-Thomas- ... 1c33b0d710
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hein-Gericke- ... 4d0d89c82b

I have a 2 piece I used to use. I fell off with it on, it didn't get that much damage (see below, one rip in a seam on the jacket and a scuff and small rip in the knee, they will also need a 3/4 zip putting round them) so try somewhere like this, and see how much it will cost to repair, might be worth your while, if you repair them, you can keep the leathers:

I have an old set of Fieldshear 1 piece leathers that I used when I was racing. although they have been down the road they are patched and pass scrutineering.

I was 30 when I wore them so that will give you a clue how old they are and a mouse has had a chew at the collar when I stored them in teh shed...........and they are for the taller slimmer frame, but I will offer them up if somebody needs them. I can check for sizes when I get home

I'm in Doncaster and have a couple of pairs you're welcome to use. They have both been in the garage for a while but are definitely usable for a trackday.

I tried looking on e bay for some last week just to see what was available. what is the deal with sizing ??

my heine Gericke trousers say "40" and fit me, I buy trousers with a 32 " waist, my scott jacket says 42 as does my techno one which are both correct as I am a 42" chest.

they don't seem to advertise leathers with a chest and waist size?

I also have a set of IXS leathers with all the liners etc. Never been down the road in them. I lost a lot of weight and they're gathering dust. For the cost of a courier and a crate of carlseberg you can have em. I was a 36 (possibly 38) when I bought them.

Obviously, by that, I meant they would be yours to keep.

Thanks for that, what's the chest size of the jacket?
